Install writeup: 2wd coil spacer leveling kit
I just installed the Day-star 1.5" leveling kit but didn't include stock spring isolator as they were somewhat worn and wouldn't let kit sit evenly and found installation video on you tube...still very happy with height results now just looking for the right shocks which are a must do to the number of speed bumps in my area...shocks deffinatly max out and ride feels like I have hydrolics...any recommendations?
I just did the 1.5" on my '04 2wd 1500 qc last week. I didn't have stock spacers like in the picture though. The existing piece was grooved for the spring to fit in, so stacking the daystar spacer on top of this wasn't an option.
I used the stock sized shocks for a 2wd 2500, they're about 2 inches longer, and bolt in exactly the same. I went with Rancho 5000's and they seem just fine, no noticeable difference in ride quality so far. (50 bucks each or so)
Now I just need to decide on tires. I've got the stock 245/70/17 (30.5"), so I'm trying to decide between the modest 265/70/17 that a lot came with (31.5"), or bumping it up another inch to the 285/70/17 (32.5"). No need to cram the biggest possible size in IMHO, and there's a lot more tire options in the 265 size. It doesn't look like there's a lot of clearance between the spindle and the tire already, and going from the 245 to 285 would put the side of the tire 2cm closer to the spindle..Seems like it will be getting pretty tight in there on stock rims with 285/70/17's.
And to anyone who STILL isn't sure, yes...get an alignment. Think about the geometry on the 2wd, just look under there at how the LCA is attached like a hinge. Your lower control arm went from level, to angled down an extra 5-10 degrees at least...Everything attached to it (including the tire) did the same thing, and went down and angled in to get you the extra height.

Ended up goon to my local 4wp and ordered some pro-comp 9000s according to the assistant manager he said that's really my only option...said rancho shocks are not long enough that they could still potentially max out either way I'll find out next Tuesday when the shocks get here
Cool thank you very much guys...
reviving a old thread.
just some words of wisdom, daystar does not recommend using the stock coil isolators with the daystars together and states to discard unless save if you decide to part your truck out and sell it.
everyone who is claiming higher height than manufacture spec, well theirs your answer.
it looked sketch when you stacked them under pressure, I'm level as can be currently.
