I search HankL and all I get is Hank from King of the Hill.

You sure you dont work for the warranty division of Dodge that checks for things to void the warranty.

Here's a very informative article on oil filters that I found a while back. FRAM apparantly sucks, and I guess I'm lucky since I ran FRAM for years.

Check out these add on engine and transmission oil filters that use magnets to remove metal particles that the regular filters don't.

http://www.bossproducts.us/home

If you're interested I can get you the engine oil filter for $21 and the transmission/power steering filters for $19 plus S&H of $7 for up to 4 filters.

I will cast another vote for Wix. I repaired heavy equipment for years, nothing does the job like wix. From Bull dozers to track hoes to road graders to our service trucks, all my company would use is Wix. cant complain a bit.I have installed countless fuel, oil, air and hydraulic filters, and I have never seen a filter related breakdown with Wix.

I don't know about all of this. Maybe some are better than others, but does it really matter? I have had several vehicles close to 200k miles and one over 200k miles. I always but the cheapest filter and oil I can find. But I have always been very careful about changing the oil at 3000 miles. All of my vehicles have run great when I sold them.

I read the article about the test conducted on the oil filters, although interesting, i wonder how much has changed since that test was first done? I say this because it appears that several filters were not being manufactured at the time. i.e., K&N; as well as others.

I do have a question though, as always, I am always looking for ways to increase the efficiency of my engine, So i'll throw this out there.....I recently changed my oil with Mobil 1 syntec, along with a new oil filter....Now usually i would change the oil/oil filter after 6K miles....Now here's my question..Would it be beneficial to change the oil filter alone, after 3K miles? and then change both again at 6K miles? The logic being that at 3K miles the new Oil filter would continue cleaning the oil......
