Well long story short, i currently own an 04 mach 1 but cant afford it. So im looking for a cheaper payment and a dealer has a 2002 ram 1500 v6 5speed. I was just wondering how much do people like them. Ive always been a "Ford Guy" with mustangs and older f100 and stuff but there arent really any fords around in my price range here in ocala, Fl. but im pretty much just wondering if these trucks have any problems i should look out for or try and notice before i buy. also i want to lift it and level it but dont want a Bl. So what kind of suspension options do i have?

I bought a 2006 v6 ram reg cab white about a month ago. So far I really like it, but need to add some features to make it nicer. My previous vehicle was fully loaded and my truck doesn't have much. Powerwise it's decent and I haven't done any mods yet. The mpg seems to be about the same as the v8 so if you could afford it I would go with the v8. I wanted a new truck with a short bed and the dealers didn't have any v8's with a short bed in my price range so I went with the v6 and I'm happy with it.

the ram 1500 v6 isn't that bad of a truck at all, but compared to the v8 theres a lot of diferences,
the mpg on the v6 isn't what is posted on the sticker. u get the same mpg as the v8 >_<
lifting the v6 will add alot more wieght and make your mpg decrease. the power of the v6 is nothing compared to a v8.

i have a 03 ram 1500 and im soon going to lift it 3 inches and put 33' tires on it. i dont know how bad thats gonna work the engine but hopefully not to bad. i curently get about 16-17 mpg freeway
it doesnt have much get up n go power. when i gas it it makes noise but doesnt really go any where,
my advice on buying the v6 is dont. spend a little more money and get yourself a v8 you will enjoy it alot more but im not saying the v6 is a bad truck , i love mine but if i had to do it again. id definatly go for the v8

i bought my 06 1500 ram v-6 new on the 12th. of oct.14 to15 m.p.g. city and 17 to 18 m.p.g. hwy. other than that i love the truck. stock except for nerf rails,tinted windows and a dodge hitch. the hwy. m.p.g. was at about 75 to 80 m.p.h.

 

Yeah, get the HEMI instead of the v6. You'll be very dissapointed with the v6 powerwise and gaswise. But the 1500 v6 is more powerful than any other v6 in its class. But I'd spend the extra $1000 for a HEMI upgrade. Yes, $1000... that cheap!

No offense to any V6 owners, but get the 4.7 at the very least. You'll get the same mileage and have a little extra power.
