Default Anyone install a catch can on their hemi ?

any one here run a catch can for the motor? when i installed my CAI a week back i noticed a fair bit of oil in the intake being sicked into the motor. i want to install a catch can. oil doesn't belong in the motor - at least via route of the intake manifold.

if any one does i would love to see some pics.

tia!

Puke cans are pretty common on older4.0's Check out Jeep sites for pics but it's a simple sealed can or bottle (oil bottle, 2-liter,brake fluid, any sealed container with a lid)with an in and out.Just cut the line and splice in the puke can. Make sure the connections are sealed. Somtimes you need to buy enough line to relocate the puke can in a convenient area under the hood.
Your rings are wore out so bad as to be getting that much blow-by?

does your valve cover gasket need to be replaced? sounds stupid, but if the gasket is that bad, you can actually bleed oil into the breather which would dump it into your take manifold.

Just install a filter on the end of the breather hose

the simplest is usually the best. I havea couple of those small breather filters. I can pop one onto the hose. that would be a free mod, gotta love it

crank case vacuum causes the oil transfer, not bad rings.

helo pilot,

I noticed on your 04 your don't have the long *** plug wires like my 03 does. do you know if the 03's can be converted to what the 04's look like?? i am guessing not, but had to ask.

Maybe in your case but not all the time.

Good luck with it....

This is in reference to the "shorty" plug wires. I am getting ready to order the shorty wires for my 06 Hemi from Air Ram! Pretty sure they have them for all Hemi's, check it out here: http://www.airram.com/products17_TAYLOR.htm

ok, here is a dumb question, why are the wires so long? i haven't really had a chance to poke around under the hood at all..sorry, i just haven't had time. when i removed the stock airbox, i noticed wires snaking across the intake manifold. am i missing something? i will look at it in a couple of days. i will be travelling for work then next few days oh well it pays the bills!

The reason for the long wires is so that the coil packs can fire on both an intake and exhaust stroke without dissipating too much power. Just an example but in order to do this let's say the #1 cylinder coil pack fires on the intake stroke, it would then fire on the exhaust stroke of another cylinder, let's say 5. That way there is enough time for the coil pack to recharge. If you use the shorties then the same coil pack fires the intake and exhaust on the same cylinder. Therefore you probably won't get as much spark with shorties as you would normally get. I hope that makes sense.
