Well since I have my laptop mounted in my truck now I can just play off that if I need to. I alsoput mp3 CD's in. You can hold 150 songs on a regular CD's. I just burn then off itunes and pop 6 of them in my truck. That is around 900 songs.

Mark,

Let me know how it works out for you if you go for it. I'm very pleased with it. As long as you don't have a DVD player you'll be OK. The harness adds a VES tab to your list of selectable options (CD/SAT/VES). It sounds great and NO static. I, too, wish I had the steering wheel controls but for now I just have the iPod mounted to my dash with a small piece of Velcro. It looks good and works great.

At $100US it's a little pricey but if you've ever used an FM modulator in a high traffic location it's worth every penny.

Randy

I just bought one of these for my Jeep from Ebay. Works pretty well - a heck of a lot better than those FM transmitters that plug into the headphone jack. Still a little static but not that bad. Like listening to a clean FM radio channel.

I need a special plug so I can adapt my male/male audio plug to fit my Motoral cell phone.

The phone uses a 4 line conduit (?) in stead of 3 since the headphones it comes with has a built in mic. Also, it's a mini jack.

I found an adapter online, but it didn't work!!

Anyone else hook up there phone to play music?? Give me the 411 on what you used...

Also, the stupid phone won't play songs one after another, you have to select each one!? Piece of crap.
if you have the motoralla E815 all you have to do is make a playlist of all your songs and then you can play them through the songs without selecting each individually. but if you have too many songs in the play list your phone will freeze up.

I just bought my brother a harmon kardon system 100$. Its got a display that will mount on the dash, and a controller that makes navigating the ipod while driving easier.

We pulled the dash apart to hide the wires; it looks pretty clean. only 1 wire coming out of the aux input that i drilled a hole in behind the change holder to run the wire behind the dash (not noticable)

They sell them at bestbuy

Sweet! Thank you. Worked great. Motorola nor the agent I bought it from could figure it out.

Now... if I can only hook it up to my factory deck!? Need an adapter that will work. The one I have won't function. Don't know why they couldn't of just made it a normal mini stero jack instead of a fancy 4 line conductor....

Please post anything that's worked for others in this situation.

Thanks!

There is a Mopar factory kit for that now that fits the REC stereo. It says it works with the steering wheel controls too:

Nice find John! I'll have to swing by the dealership and inquire about this, validate its authenticity... Not so trusting of all e-Bay sales and claims.

I ordered the IPOD intergration kit from my dealers parts department. If it doesn't work they will let me return it as it'll work on various other cars. (also like to support local business when I can)

Some great information here from Jaak on another forum....

I will try to take installation pics and figure out a way to host/post them.

Cheers,
Mark

I put an aftermarket Kenwood system in my truck. It has an aux input that does the trick for either the Ipod or the XM roady. I know the original author of this thread didn't want to do this but it's easy enough to just switch back to factory when trading in. If you buy your aftermarket head unit from say....Crutchfield, they will give you all the necessary equipment to transfer the unit to a different vehicle if you need it.
With MP3 playback, XM and the Ipod, I never have to listen to irritating commercials again
