Default 2006 Ram Recall, posted 2-14-07

WASHINGTON (AP) -- DaimlerChrysler is recalling more than 86,000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups to resolve front-end vibration that could lead to the failure of the front wheel bearing.
The automaker will replace the front wheel hub and bearing units in the 2006 pickups.
A DaimlerChrysler spokesman says the company had received a "couple hundred" warranty claims, which led it to review the bearings. There have been no injuries linked to the issue.
Chrysler says owners who experience front-end vibration or bearing noise to take their vehicles to a dealer for inspection. The work will be completed at no cost to owners.
The Auburn Hills-based manufacturer recalled about 145,000 of the pickups in September because of passenger air bag issues.

The recall affects as many as 86,333 of the pickups built between Nov. 7, 2005, and April 27, 2006, the company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The problem can cause noise and vibration that if not addressed could lead to a loss of control and a crash, the agency said on its Web site.

Well there is a vin checker on dodges website that tells you if you are eligible for the recall BUT it is not a full on recall yet so no one will be in the vin check for this issue yet. It is just a service bulletin so that means there is a common problem and they know that and it will soon be a recall, maybe. I got my truck back today for my blown tranny under warranty and I told them about my bad vibration and they fixed it. No more steering vibration. Just take your truck in if you have ANY vibrations at all in the steering and get it taken care of.

Edit: here is the vin checker http://www.dodge.com/owners/index.html]http://www.dodge.com/owners/index.html[/URL]
