Default 3.7 Oil filter vs. all the rest?

Seems that the 6 cyl. is a skinny filter and the Hemi and the rest get a short fat one. But, the dealer said to me that they are all the same? They both seem to be the same as far as gasket and threading; just one is fatter. Anyone using the short fat Hemi one on their V6?

Link seems to have old info as far as Mopar engines, unless I went over it too fast.

yeah, its old, but that tells you that just like the store brand cereal is made by kelloggs, much name(MOPAR) oil filters are made by names as Purolator.

It is good info, but it doesn't answer my original question; will the short fat-sized filter for the V8s fit on my V6? Dealer lists one filter for both; the skinny one. But aftermarket catalogs show the fat and skinny?

Sorry dude. I dont know that answer, but when I changed my mopar filter, it was the skinny one. Purolator for the V6 is the skinny one also. Besides the skinny is 20 cents cheaper, you can go wrong with that. I would keep it the same. Imagine all the things you can get with 20 cents.

Yeah, I guess its no big deal. But, here's the kicker; Walmart by me started carrying Mopar filters, but only the short fat one and they're pretty cheap, for Mopar.

! have a 2004 with the V-6. Saw the Mopar filters at Walmart, bought one against my better judgement, application guide said these filters would fit the V-6. Not true, there is a bracket bolted to the block that will prevent installation of the "fat" filter. What this brackets purpose is, I don't know. I ended up buying filter from dealer.
