Stupid question - what does the 6.1 Cam allow for -
If I remember correctly, it will add about 35 hp, not sure on torque. I think it is also recommended that you upgrade your exhaust valve springs.
upgrade all the vlave springs at the least to be on the safe side. many have done it succesfully with out upgrades to the springsand the last report in i saw was 9-10,000 miles after the upgrade with no ill affects. the job itself is fairly simple but you have to be very careful when removing the timming chain and when putting it back together. i planned on this mod a while back but have since backed out due to the fact i would want to replace the retainers, push rods and springs while im in there. thats a little bit more money then i am currently able to spend and then having never done a cam or springs before kinda scares me off.many many write ups though if you have the time and money

Yes the cam is a 25-35 rwhp gain. Upgrade the valve spings, and push rods if you want to be on the safe side with it. All in all with all that stuff it will cost right around $300 which is a VERY good price for those kinds of gains. The cheapest I have seen it is on www.airram.com he sells the push rods and valve springs as well. Tons of guys do this swap and it's very good.
how does it provide the extra 25-35 horse; does it allow for better fuel intake - anyone know the tech details; what does this due to mpg?

I would also like to know the mpg as this will be my next mod after gears. I imagine that you would have to take out your superchips as well (if it is not programmable for timing etc.) Has anybody done cams and checked their mpg? If there is a lot of overlap does your mpg just go south?

on other posts guys pulled the stock 5.7 and compared to the 6.1 and its a little more aggressive durations i believe. hence the idea on doing the valve springs for longitivity
