"change oil" message shows on my EVIC for the 3rd time, and now it is only 2500 miles from my last oil change. i used mobil 1 5-20 extended performance (15,000 miles) and mobil 1 extended performance filter. I checked oil viscosity and it still looks clean. is this normal for new hemi engine?

Its not monitoring the oil.Its monitoring idle time.rpm range and a small host of other items.Reset it and drive it.The MAX oil change interval is 6k and 6 months and the oil you used will certainly go that distance if not much further.www.bobistheoilguy.com lots of OCD guys and info on oils and oil life monitoring.

Thanks HD! I was told the same when I went to my dealer. The service advisor told me that I can reset the message and just have the oil changed after another 3000 miles.

I haven't hit 3000 yet. I thought about doing a change at 3000, then 6000 and every 6000 after that, like the manual say's. I have the 4.7...Im looking at 0w20. I know it says 5w20.

My oil change due message appeared the other day.It was 5600 miles on the oil and filter. Changed it a few hundred miles later (just about dead on 6k)using Amsoil XL 5w20 and a Wix filter.Mainly rural driving, some interstate and some in the heart of Atlanta stop and go.I was curious to how many miles before it came on.Some of you all must be doing lots of short trips or stop and go driving to get it at the 2500 mile mark.

I think it also comes on a lot faster if you have the truck in Tow mode for many miles.

Same oil and filter etc. I read where some Chrysler products the OIL CHANGE message was coming on at 2500 mile intervals and they was a RRT/TSB re-flash for them. The TRUCKS were NOT involved in this BUT someone posted they bet if your computer needed updating it would take care of the 2500 mile oil change message.Either way STAR is more then likely aware and if you take your truck in for such the tech can contact STAR(engineering) for advice.

What would be wrong with using conventional penzoil 5w-20, changed every 3,000 miles?
