Hey. john, there are sveral posts about the new generation but i know they're kinda hard o find. Its kinda like asking what you had for dinner. One question, 20differsnt answers. How hard do you drive? City, highway? I know some are reporting what it says when they're behind a big truck, breaking the wind reporting what the meter says for 5 seconds. Etc. etc. if I use mine in the town, running stops all day ( I work termite control house to house, i can get as low as 14-15. On a trip and i mean a trip, a hundres to three hundred miles or more, running 75 to 80 i gave got 18 - 19 in other words I aalways had Ford with v-8 or diesel and I get quite a lot better with this 2012 5.7 than with Any Ford I ever owned, and I was always a Ford man. Hope this helps

My advice, check your fuel consumption and know what your truck is doing, don't worry about what other people are posting on here, the only gas you pay for is what goes in your truck, there are so many variables its impossible to measure your fuel consumption against other peoples. The sticker on my truck says most people will get between 16 to 24 miles per gallon highway, you will fall somewhere in that range.

If you want an easy way to keep track of your mpg, check out a website called Fuelly. It pairs with a free app called garage life. You enter in your info each time you do a complete fill (or a partial if you want to keep track of the info needed) and it will automatically text your profile on fuelly. It will give you the mpg for that fill and, your overall average as well. It can keep track of maintenance you put in it as well. I've been using it for at least a year now. I've got an overall avg of 16.5. My highway is usually 19 or 20.

As others said, each vehicle is different though. However, it is a very good idea to keep track of mpg. If you see a drop out of the norm and it stays that way, it's usually a good indicator that something is wrong. It's also an idicator that something need serviced, an air filter replacement for example. Most times, the drop in mpg will happen before the CEL comes on.

Had a pretty large stretch of highway (140miles) and got just shy of 23 mpg.

2010 Ram1500 CrewCab 4x2 5.7L

34k miles.

Got a bit of a longer trip (~500m) coming up in October.

Another good thing to post is the speed we drive. I have 2012 Ram, 5.7, 3:55 Gears. At 55-60 on the highway I can get around 23 also but I'd almost as soon hitchhike!! I run 80-85 and depending on the gas can get 18+. Which at 80-85 I consider good mileage. Better than any Ford I ever owned, by far.

I have found the gas changes a LOT. I have noticed since the last big hike in prices (when the predicted a bad storm in the gulf) that at the same time my mileage dropped a couple MPGs also. And it varies from station to station. Today Shell might be good, a week later its terrible. We have an EXXON station locally that I constantly get a couple mrg worse mileage.
