Official MPG 4th Gen Thread
I recently made my first long road trip since buying the truck in the spring and got 24 mpg imperial on the highway. What that converts to in US I don't know but I'm happy as its about 5 mpg better than the 05 it replaced. I've never kept track of city mileage. FWIW the EVIC was pretty much dead on.

What was your L/100 and rear end 3.92? 4x4?
I bought a 2010 4.7 with a 5speed for my son. It's average is 22 mpg on the highway, best is 24. I had a 2012 rental 4.7 with a 6speed last week in Phoenix. I drove 20 miles to Goodyear and the computer read 27.8 mpg for the highway section. My average for the trip was 21 mpg. I'm looking to buy a Ram 1500 for myself and am considering a 2012 so I can get the 4.7.

Rawhide,
The 2013 Tradesman Model is 4.7L V8 with 6 speed automatic as mentioned by menarefrommars. You can also get the 4.7L Flex Fuel V8 with 6 speed automatic in the ST and SXT 2013 Models.
Seems to me I just read that Mack 1 engine plant will start to build parts for the Pentastar V6 after the first quarter of next year. Isn't that because the 4.7 is being phased out?
Bests,
Dusty
The Pentastar V6, 4.7L V8 and 5.7L V8 are all currently available on the 2013 Ram 1500. You will have to keep in contact with a selling dealer for information regarding new and forthcoming vehicle models, as Dodge's practice is to reserve information regarding new production vehicles (vehicle details and features), until formal introduction can be made.
Thanks for your patience.
I test drove two 2012s RAM 1500 Outdoorsman today around the same course which was mostly highway at 65 with gradual ups and down, e.g., not flat. Thus the trucks were cycling in and out of ECON. Both had 3.55 limited-slip differentials. The 5.7 averaged 18.4 mpg and the 4.7 averaged 20.4. I drove a 5.7 with a 3.92 LSD earlier this week on almost the same loop and it averaged slightly better. Does the lower gearing allow the 4-cyl displacement feature to stay engaged longer?
