I have figured out that the esp programming, torque management, or something has to do with how steering wheel is turned. I was doing about 30 around a curve leading to an acceleration lane this afternoon. I punched it and the wheels broke loose and I got sideways. I know that turning offers some rolling resistance, but if I punch it at 30 going straight it doesn't come close.

I noticed the same exact thing. Floor it going mid speed and impressive but i gave it 3/4 throttle taking a turn and truck went sideways! I got smoke, rubber on asphalt, and my exhaust was howling.... Pucker factor was about a 8, now i know better...

I was on another forum for a while and saw more people breaking 13's then hitting 14's.

My original point though was that rice rockets should not all be considered slow. There are some that are fast. I was not bragging or anything.

Markus, I had people call my crappy Neon a crappy slow Neon to my face. I never cared, I thought it was funny. Some people DO think all Neons are slow and that their trucks/cars/whatever can beat them. I am not saying that about anyone on here either. Even with the loud exhaust and blow off valve, some people just didn't have a clue.

lol i know what you mean. That's part of the fun though isn't it? running someone in your so-called "slow, crappy neon" and smoking them with a turbo screaming at them as you pull away..

If i remember correctly he was at a ridiculous elevation and posted his adjustment time to compensate

Man, it was almost always somebody in a riced out civic with a lawnmower handle and a fart muffler that tried me in my srt-4. It was always the same result-the Rodney King beating all over again.

I repeat, I don't give a damn what the magazines say about what this that or the other cab configuration of new dodge runs. Here's how accurate they are: I'm outrunning what one of them got out of an r/t by 4 tenths. Four tenths is a pretty big error, except that I DON'T HAVE AN R/T. So, it's even worse. That is how much magazine racing is worth. If you really want to know, take one to the track and learn how to drive the truck to maximize it's performance.

And God, let me figure out how to get this video off my damn camera so I can post it.

At least you got a riced out civic. I would get kids in minivans giving me dirty looks.

I may take my TRX4 Crew to the track once. I am curious...

sobo, when i tested the tundra against the ram, i also felt that the "seat of the pants" dyno gave the edge to the tundra, but the ram handled every test better..except for maybe the 7000lb trailer test, but that was because of the trans more than the engine.

however, the interior and chassis quality of the tundra was so **** poor that it would have to run 10s for me to consider it. even in its highest trim, the tundra felt like a rental car...cheap, shaky plastic everywhere...

Oh I agree with you 100% there... The interior is horrid on those Tundras.

yeah....my interior isn't too impressive once the new car feeling goes away. The track i run at sucks big time. I believe it is at around 1100-1200 ft and has a 19ft incline. Corrected my time was around 14 flat, but I only got one run in. It was really crowded and i was there for 6 hours and only got one run in. I left soon after, and didn't get a chance to try different launching techniques.

I plan on using some of the advice V8440 gave me on launching. Feels like i could have broken into the 13's with a little practice. After my tune it made it very difficult to launch with out setting my rear tires on fire.

Any of you in the Los Angeles area? It would be cool to run one of ya at a track. Get it on film and put the question to rest. Maybe best out of 3 or something. Loser buys a case of beer. Don't worry though, Ill share.

Yeah but the money goes to Japan. I do how ever support manufactures that do infact have plants here. My GMC Canyon had a powerplant from China, my Nissan Frontier and Xterra built 90% American, Our Ram, the engine is built in Mexico and total only 53% in American/Canadian. Even the Harley has parts outsourced from other contries.

I still like to think I am buying American in these times.

That's right, I had forgotten about the 19 foot incline. Putting all of that together, it's hard to imagine you running under much worse conditions. I've had the benefit of a track that's not crowded, so the number of runs I've gotten in was limited by cooldown time for the truck. The elevation is also great-150 or 175 feet. I went to the site someone posted for the correction factor and looked up my track. Using the weather data they had stored for the time and day I ran the 14.007, it corrected to 13.97. I didn't post that at the time because I felt like the actual time was straining credibility, especially for someone who is having so much trouble getting the damn video of a 14.13 pass off the camera. (Last night I figured out I need a 4 pin to 6 pin firewire cable, which I of course don't yet have.)
