I am NOT sorry to say that I am not enthused with my Bakflip. Acorns dented the thing, and the customer "service" was horrible.

Trust me - I'm on a couple forums, a mod on one - and every time someone asks about a cover - BakFlip is NOT one I recommend anymore. Seriously, ACORNS dent the thing? What is up with that? The only thing I was offered was to send it back and buy a more expensive cover. Sorry, I already spent 600 bucks on this thin POS. Not going to give you more money!

Well said. Customer service is all that matters to some companies. Other companies, not so much.

If acorns dent a tonneau cover that's suppose to be HD, there's something wrong. Seems like customer service was sterling in this case as well.

I'm prepared to lay down the gauntlet as follows: Take any 3 or four tonneau covers. Let's get them installed by an independent installer and let's test them all head to head in terms of fit, function, style, design, strength, weather resistence and over superiority. My money is squarely on BAK. I invite any who'd like to be part of this study to email me. I will have the results documented and video recorded by an intermediate party for forum review and discussion. If we lose, we lose, but I want the whole truth revealed. Either we make ourselves look bad or we make ourselves look good. I know the tonneau market better than any other person in the USA and I can guarantee you, that despite the few negative reviews by the disgruntled, you'll never find a product for the RAM that will outperform BakFlip across the board. I offer this up in seek of the truth and would hope that bashing BakFlip G2, HD and F1, you consider my offer before doing so.

If there is anything I have posted which is not the truth, please let me know. I've saved every email that was sent between myself and BakFlip.

I am in the market for a cover for my Ram Box, and I have no experience in ever purchasing or using one. I'm looking for any suggestions that would work with my application.
Thanks,
Jim

If they make a G2 version of the BakFlip for the Rambox, you would probabally be happy with it. As I've said before - functionally the cover works well, but the HD version is not worth the extra money - It's not heavy duty in any way that I can see. As for the F1 - who knows, I'm certainly not going to spend another $460+ to find out.

Thanks for the responce, but I don't believe I was the one to respond to here. All I am going on is the pictures posted on the F150 forum. As to what caused the damage to the one here I can only speculate. I am in retail so I know how customers are, and I know how companies are. Somewhere in the middle is the truth to any matter. I never tend to believe any party is 100% correct, even me, I am on the side of my business and will try to make a dollar at the end of the day. That is why we are all in business.

But pictures speak 1000 words to me.

The bent corner from shipping, things happen. I see shipping damage daily. Does not effect my judgement.

I saw the pictures of the fold material.....

That would scare me on a part that needs to fold for it's entire life....

The desription of the twisted rails from shims at only the back sounds like an issue that only he had, I have heard of others saying that the had multiple shims. The clamps twisting the plastic box rail caps would tick me off if indeed they do that. I have read both senarios, they do and they don't. Not sure if it depends on where they are installed of not.

The fact that it leaks that bad.....

And the replacement seal was a mess as well that I believe you stated was not ready for production?
Unfortunately the new seal which he insisted on, required more R&D as was simply not ready to put out, despite our efforts.
If you are working on a new seal, then you obviously see a need for a better design? or why else would you be working on a new seal? My main reason for wanting to buy a cover is rain protection, or I would leave it open as I know that no matter how secure a cover is, unless it is welded shut, someone can/will get into it.

At the end of the day, I follow manufacturers warranty procedures, whatever the warranty they have is. BUT..... and this is the kicker..... If I was to have sold your product out of my auto parts section and you were not willing to help out a dis-satisfied customer, I would step up. I have, and will continue to offer to my customers a "Customer Satisfaction" clause that will trump the stated warranty. One pissed off customer does a lot more damage then returning a couple hundred dollars. Word of mouth travels faster then light, and unlike light, it turns corners and finds everyone.

Just my 2 cents as a fellow retailer in the world.

I love my F1, it definately won't dent on the outside, just wished it sealed a little better, I have seen the G2 and I DON'T LIKE IT AT ALL, looks cheap and sags slightly, since the F1 attaches differently I would ask them to explain the install, and since they are not selling you the rail system, I would hope they pass the savings on, but don't expect it, bought mine for 949, and I am happy.

In this picture it looks like the tailgate got closed with the cover down? It appears that the seal is folded back under itself. Or it's a different type of seal than mine has.

Julian,

My information was not second hand and is the complete truth. I only hope the F1 is better made than the G2 and HD. If it is, good for you, but I will never by another BAK product.
