There's another guy on the Ford F150 forums who bought a BakFlip HD and wasn't happy with it. Sounds like he went through alot of crap from both the distributor and the manufacturer. Both the manufacturer and the distributor ended up posting on the forum.

I was also looking at the Bakflip for my new truck. Now I'm not so sure it's the right choice. I have the Ram Box and I don't know what options I have. The Mopar version has been mentioned, but is it for the Ram Box?
Please help me decide.

Interesting to me how fast that thread got locked on the Ford board. Makes me wonder if BakFlip is an advertiser?

In any event if you search around enough you'll find other threads, there was a pretty bad one on a tundra board too.

just wondering why yo u guys decided on something like a backflip opposed to a roll up or retractable one.

Im in the market also but not sure on what i want. roll up seems to be the best choice since it gets everything out of the way, like its not even there.

Retractable would be second but thats pricey

Backflip looks nice but doesnt it seems to get in the way when it folds up. (it covers your back window if im not mistaken)

Main reasons I picked mine were security and how waterproof it was. I looked at some of the retractable covers and they were decent looking but pretty expensive - even compared to the bakflip.

For the most part the Bakflip is a good cover, I'm still using mine - it's just cosmeticly damaged.

LOL, when I first opened the thread, all across the top of the page was a BakFlip ad. First thing I thought was, uh oh, this is going to go bad for the guy. It didn't go to bad, but I think when it comes to modding our trucks, aren't we all kinda perfectionists? Most mods are not only for function but are highly cosmetic as well. I really don't see how the guy was a perfectionist for expecting the cover to fit, not be twisted, not tiwst up the truck bed covers and not leak. These are all things that would tick me off. If you are looking to just cover the bed and shouldn't be worried about how it looks....... sorry BakFlip but a hunk of plywood would do the same thing only cheaper.....

I am looking for a cover and thinking of going with something else. I know the cosmetic issues would tick me off.

I looked at the BakFlip but ended up going with the Retrax; germane to this thread is a video of a guy beating the Retrax cover with a hammer – I can just imagine how the BakFlip HD (hail damage) would look if you did that.

not to pile on here, but glad i found this thread today. i noticed the new bakflip ads on dodgeforum.com for the rambox cover, checked them out and loved 'em.

i wasn't even in the market for a top but found a dealer after seeing the ads.
again, thx for bringing this to our attention, i would have hated to make a $900 mistake.
it does seem a little funny that they have apparently popped for some ad money but not for the important stuff that would have actually translated into some new customers.

I certainly know that a few folks have not been entirely satisfied, but the overwhelming majority of BakFlip owners are extremely happy. Our products are also OEM endorsed and exceed the standard of most if not all other aftermarket covers. Most of what's written here in an attempt to slam us is simply not the whole truth. The reality is that we are in fact here to make great product and to help wherever we can. If this was not the case, then I wouldn't be wasting my time posting a message on this forum. It's particularly ironic that many on this thread seem to be on the bandwagon in support of a fellow forum friend, but I would ask that you consider the whole truth before launching into an all out assault on our great products. I'm prepared to lay down the gauntlet as follows: Take any 3 or four tonneau covers. Let's get them installed by an independent installer and let's test them all head to head in terms of fit, function, style, design, strength, weather resistence and over superiority. My money is squarely on BAK. I invite any who'd like to be part of this study to email me. I will have the results documented and video recorded by an intermediate party for forum review and discussion. If we lose, we lose, but I want the whole truth revealed. Either we make ourselves look bad or we make ourselves look good. I know the tonneau market better than any other person in the USA and I can guarantee you, that despite the few negative reviews by the disgruntled, you'll never find a product for the RAM that will outperform BakFlip across the board. I offer this up in seek of the truth and would hope that bashing BakFlip G2, HD and F1, you consider my offer before doing so.

I initially was banning you on the customer service for your product, heard many of a nightmare story as I researched your products on many forums, as you came out with the F1 I took a chance on your product and so far I am happy, if the panels sealed a little better to their respective frames I would be happier ( would be alot less leaks in the truckbed), but I knew it was not 100% to begin with, and as I said I like the F1, A for effort and material, jury is still out on durability over time, florida sun will give it a test, would of felt more comfortable with a better lonnnger warranty, like say a lifetime like my ARE tonneau had, had an issue with my ARE on my 04 and the second time I sent it back for paint and structural, no questions asked it was replaced and upgraded, I would of bought another for the 09 but they don't make it easy to remove without pulling the rails. But back to customer service, in an email your company sent me you stated a low number of problems out of the hundreds of thousand of product sold, I feel if its so low then you should just cover the product, say hail damage, the small percentage of loss on covering a product you would make up for 10 fold on word of mouth especially today with all the forums, I think you guys missed a golden opportunity to take more of the market place, again the F1 is great, but wouldn't buy the HD, and I hope I don't have to deal with the customer service, haven't yet and hope I never have to, sorry so long.
