Default Bakflip HD Replaced

Hey guys, I know this post is 6 months old, but I had the same problem with my Bakflip HD cover and I had mine replaced. My cover received pea-size hail and was severely damaged. I filed a complaint with Lauren at BAK and she was totally rude and said hail was an act of god. I threw the statements in her face about it being all weather friendly and impact resistant. I even filed a complaint with the BBB. I eventually called the president (Julian) and he said that a dealer 50 miles from me had golf ball size hail and had a lot of truck damaged. I told him, "I don't give a damn what happened 50 miles from me." Long story short, my bed cover was replaced. I keep the cover in my garage and I don't install it unless I need it for a trip. They will forever remember me.

Glad to hear that you got yours replaced, and that they appear to be consistantly full of crap. The best they offered me was the opportunity to buy their new model (F1) for $465 + shipping. I decided that I wasn't going to give another penny to BAK and have given up on any sort of resolution.

It's a good thing to get a replacement, but I still spent $700 on a sub-standard product. I'm afraid to leave it on my truck. Here in Oklahoma, you never know when a hail storm will pop up.

Thanks for the BBB idea though. I filed a complaint there, at a minimum it's another warning to others. Wasn't too suprised to see that they had a few complaints in the past.

Really since the hood is aluminum you sure there are no dents there?

How about a magnet?

I didn't have a single hail dent on my hood or on top of my cab. Only 100+ pea-size hail dents in the HD cover. My friend has the G2 composite cover, which is not aluminum like the HD. It looks like it would withstand hail better then the HD.

Magnets don't stick to aluminum.

As for my hood, It didn't have any dents at all. I looked it over very closely since I'd only had the truck for a few months when it happened.

Well Oldjeep...BAK has lost yet another customer. I just bought my truck and have been researching different types of covers. This particular cover was on the top of my list. Not anymore. I am in retail myself and it is an unwritten rule in retail that the customer is always right. Customer service can and will be the killer to any business and hopefully, after hearing your story, BAK will feel the damage they have done by not honouring their warranty. Threads like this are an invaluable tool for us and can really open our eyes to these companies who are in it to just make a buck and not keep their customers happy. One unhappy customer can affect a whole lot of potential customers as this thread has proven.
I don't blame you one bit for not taking their deal. I wouldn't give them another dime either.
