Bakflip HD - not so HD
Mine leaks along the tailgate which expected, but it leaks around the hinged seals, it seems to come in from the outside edge and run along the bottom edge where it has the rubber hinge and drips some hinges more than others.
Could you see the above post and reply, my cover is only 10 months old, has had the leaks since new, also the rivets that hold the retaining clips at the front of the cover are rusting, and one of the support bars has had the rivet come undone on the inside rail, any help would be appreciated, been busy haven't had time to deal until seen the thread again.
Thanks,
Erik

I started this thread about a specific issue, which was resolved. Kinda wish that people would create their own problem threads rather than hopping on to this one - but I can't close it or lock it.
This video cleary shows a problem - looks like the seals that hold the panel into the hinge failed, is that what you are seeing?

This video was taken a long time ago to demonstrate a problem that a customer had with AN OLD PLASTIC BakFlip cover that is no longer even being produced. The old Plastic covers had lots of issues, including expansion and contraction which caused the rivets to loosen over time, resulting in potential leaks like the one being demonstrated.
In all fairness, all BakFlip covers are now made with Aluminum and have been for the past few couple of years. The hinges on new BakFlip's are not even close to the hinge system on this old cover you're seeing either.
Nowadays, if there ever is a leak (which can occur with any cover), it is rarely (if ever) a problem with the cover and almost all the time, an issue with the install. If it ever is an issue with the cover, I will be the first to replace it for anyone!
The great thing about the net is that it allows truths to be shared. The bad thing is that truths can be taken out of context and do not always accurately depict reality. Audi was once a brand that had its fair share of problems. Today, it's one of the best and most reliable vehicles you can buy. Imagine thinking of buying one and watching a video of an old Audi that had breaking or transmission issues. The video, while probably factual for the time, would in all honesty have little baring on today's models being sold. I think it's a good way to some up BakFlip and the way it is largely regarded in todays industry.
I can certainly understand where anyone would be hesitant to buy a cover that could potentially leak, however if it's any consolation, I can personally assure you that the range of BakFlip covers are terrific and the vast majority of BakFlip owners will attest to this as fact!

I purchased a BackFlip F-1 cover this year. It leaked. I re-installed it using spacers and now it does NOT leak.
I am very happy with this cover and admit that the leak problem was my fault due to improper install.
I have no problem recommending this cover.

I've had a Bakflip F1 on since early August. I get water in the bed when it rains, though I believe the vast majority of that is coming through all the holes in the bed. The cover leaks, but not appreciably so.
My biggest issue with the cover is the struts that hold it open. The clip on one side that holds the strut to the bedrail broke last month. A minor thing, I guess, but pretty disappointing given what the cover cost.
I think the F1 is still the best option out there for someone like me who uses the bed to haul a lot, but it's far from perfect.
