I've had my truck for 7 weeks and haven't been offroad one time.

I tried 4WD on dry pavement (going straight) a couple of times (pre-lift) to see if I could detect any sign of the 4WD Shudder that a lot of people talk about and it was smooth as glass.

I haven't tried 4WD at all since installing the shocks and spacers yesterday.

 

Hey Stu, thanks for all the info. So did you actually get 2.8" of lift with these?

 

I did measure before I got them put on, but haven't had a chance yet to measure the "after". I will and I'll post those measurements and some before/after pictures as soon as I can. I have a spot in front of my house where I parked the truck to take some before pictures. I want to park it in the same spot and take pictures from the same spot to best show how different it looks now.

Sorry for the dumb questions here but if I swapped both shocks out on the front and rear on a TRX4, I'm looking at a 2.1" increase on the front end and a 2.8" increase on the rear with an overall even stance? And that's with NO spacer, correct?

 

No. The Bilstein rear shocks are non-adjustable and do not add any lift.

 

However, the Bilstein rears do allow you to add a 1" - 1.5" spacer in the rear safely.

 

OOOOOO well then that changes everything... so I would spend some serious cash and then get a total lift of 1.5" if I wanted it level.

 

A total of 1.5" of lift in the rear and 2.1" in the front.

Mine was a total of 1.5" in the rear and 2.8" in the front (theoretically, I have not measured it yet - that's just based on the shock settings and spacers I put in). But, it makes a BIG difference in how it looks. Even my Chevy-driving, Dodge-hating buddy said that it actually looks really good now. And he would never say that just to be nice....

If you were already looking at doing 4 shocks, adding the rear spacers only adds about $60 to the bottom line. Fairly small potatoes compared to the cost of 4 shocks - especially if you're going to pay somebody else to install them - and an alignment.
