Do you drive a 4.7 or 5.7? Why did you choose what you did?

Bought a 4.7 ST.....didnt feel it had enough power so I traded it in for a 5.7 TRX. Made 700$ off the trade in, new truck came out to be 1,000 less than my first truck, and its got all the bells and whistles I wanted.

I'm very happy with the hemi BTW, a lot more power.

Because they threw in the hemi upgrade at no cost (I'm sure I paid for it in there somewhere - "there is no free lunch"). And the overall cost of the truck (was on the lot) was what I thought a good deal and the hemi is a proven engine. Also it had the stuff on the truck that I wanted and didn't have the stuff that I didn't want.

I have the 4.7 SLT, love the truck. Bought it during the Cash for Clunkers program. Traded in my 1995 Ram 1500 5.9 with 270000 miles. I ended up with the 4.7 only because the dealers around the area only had Hemi's in the standard & quad cab models at the time, no crew cab's. I needed the space more then the extra power. And I could not pass up the deal, I got the full 4500.00 from cash for clunkers because the new truck got 3mpg better then my 95' and Dodge was giving the 6500.00 bonus, plus I got the truck at invoice due to a buyers deal through my insurance Co. USAA for military. Sticker was 42000.00, invoice was 36000.00 and drove it off after discounts for 24000.00. I've been very happy with the 4.7.

Why wouldn't you, gas mileage is comparable and the torque and power is way better although the HEMI needs to be moving before it shows its power.

Hemi... More power, more torque, same gas mileage minimal price increase.

Hemi, traded my '03 4.7L was a great truck, but I tow a lot and the 8mpg was killing me on long trips. The Hemi has a ton of power, tows extremely well, and is a blast to drive everyday. The new truck is much nicer than the '03 as well, and the remote start and new options were a major plus. HEMI all the way!
