Just to clarify for HEMI5150,

On most of the 2009 models, the light only comes on when MDS is activated. So whatever your 2010 manuel [manual] says may not necessarily apply to other year models.

So........back at ya.

 

I personally think it's not the Converter causing it, the effect is just amplified by the torque converter unlocking at the same time. Not positive, but I know the issue isn't there when the MDS system is deactivated, and the converter still works normal.

 

I( have had torque converter shudder on other vehicles(customers) and a total change of fliud corrected it.On my personal trucks in the past changing over the entire trans fliud to Amsoil ATF was like a night and day difference in torque converter smoothness on lockup.

 

I agree with you, to a point, (for 09 year) but ther are a few things that changed for 2010 hemi`s. I dont want to get into a battle of wits here with anyone, just tellin about things for 2010 model year 5.7 hemi trucks, and i apoligize for not sayin that i was speaking of only 2010 model year. I am a personal friend of an engineer that was on the design team at chrysler when the MDS came out for the hemi`s, so i usually have a heads up with whats what when i talk to him from time to time.

So, once again, basically the ECO light in the EVIC has nothing to do with the MDS circut. It only monitors driving scnerio`s when/while you are driving in a "fuel saving manor". You can sometimes even activate the ECO light in the EVIC even if you are in 4th gear, and i think EVERYBODY agree`s that the MDS does NOT activate unless in OD. So....... ther for, try this, push in the "Tow/Haul" mode and see what happens to BOTH the MDS and the ECO light, then tell me your findings. Also when in OD, bump the shifter down to 5th gear, and tell me what you saw or felt different.

MDS only activates in OD?? WRONG it activates as low as 5/10 mph and as high as 80 mph. Plus anywhere in the middle.This has been discussed before. MDS cuts out four cylinders at any of those speeds under correct conditions and fuel saver light is on.Been like that on my truck since day one.I put my exhaust on in the first 300 miles and can hear when its in four cylinder mode easily.

2010 Laramie 1500 really notice the shudder now since having to drive around 40MPH in snow. It always happens between 40-45MPH. Shift down to 5 and it is still there. Down to 4 and it downshifts and disappears. I thought the MDS shuts off when taking the transmission out of D and into 5 but it may not. Did not try tow/haul mode though, will try next time on road.
So, if I am reading this correct, simply using the shift selector does not shut off the MDS, right?

 

I just noticed this vibration on my 2010 crew cab 4x4. Because it only occurs on mine while the 4x4 is engaged at around 70km/h. It feels like I am driving on a continuous set of rumble strips on the highway. There is no way you can miSs it. It vibrates the entire truck.

 

70km/h in 4wd? Why?

 

When mine is in "stock mode" it is fairly smooth. With my SC tune and custom shift schedule it can be a little rough in and out of MDS, but that is no ones fault by my own for not disabling it.
