Rusting front chrome bumper
#11
These pictures are from my one month old 2011 Dodge Ram. I'm taking the truck in this week for it's first oil change. I'm also going to show them the rusting issue.
Yes, it's a big deal that the bumper is rusting already, but I want to present it the right way to them. Any "professional" suggestions, to basically say, they need to address the issue?

My first 2010 dodge, the dealer replaced BOTH of my rusted bumpers no charge when it was only 2 months old.
Then 2 to 3 months later, the replacement bumpers rusted (that truck went down the road, bought the QC sport)
Make sure when they do "YOURS" that you get it in writing how long the NEW bumpers are covered for. (verbal agreement dont meen sh_t)
My dealer says your on your own after the first replacement.

wait till them rust spots are on your paint the exact same as that and they don't do anything for ya except tell ya you should of bought a dark colored vehicle instead of white. they won't fix it cause it just has them spots same as on your bumper but since the paint ain't blistered they won't cover it.

At one year the grey lower part of my trx4 bumper is all chipped up and rusting badly. The rest of the blue paint above is fine. Told dealer there should be a primer coat which there isnt, and a better clearcoat. And get a me a new bumper. I going to call them again today. Its been two weeks, they shouldn't have to go to the district manager for simple answers. I drive 99% highway, so their gravel road theory is total BS lol

What brand did you use for polish? Not to hijack the thread, but my chrome steps started pitting in a few spots and I'm curious what can be done. They only offer a year warranty on the OEM steps.

I always have used white diamond chrome polish and had great results. Some people have said that it scratches their chrome but I have never had it scratch mine.

I didn't find any white diamond so tried some mothers chrome polish and it helped. I also noticed a rust spot on the front bumper near one of the tow hooks. I used the mothers to polish the bumper and it took care of it. I can't believe I'm worried about my truck rusting before I've owned it for a year. Although when I picked it up at the dealer it had rust on the diff and rear axle.

Our 09 started showing rust on the rear bumper and corrosion on the 20" five spoke wheels the first winter at 3,500 mi. This winter the front bumper started rusting and the wheels are now turning green in the tight corners with less then 11,000 mi.
Our dealer and Dodge has not yet replaced any chrome on our truck and have been giving us the runaround.
This has been a problem since 2009 and you would think they would have solved the problem by 2011. That's three (3) model years.
