I wasn't stiffed by Dodge or Chrysler for that matter with my 06 Dakota. The FCM went out in my pickup and with one complain through the BBB it was paid for despite my truck being out of warranty. Received an apology from Chrysler and they sent me a check for the part. I've also had nothing but good experiences at my local dealerships.

I think it all depends on where you go, and who you talk to. There are a lot of crooked dealerships it seems and I think we all know that there are a lot of crooked auto shops out there and that's no different in the dealer service shops.

I would hardly call the Ram a "Fiat Ram". Fiat owns Chrysler but they didn't pull a Daimler and fire all the Chrysler employees when they bought the company. Daimler was irresponsible and didn't care about the customers. As for quality, my Dad drives a 99 Ram 1500 CC with the 5.9L V8 4x4 and it's got about 300,000 miles on it. The dash is falling apart but is still runs great. I'd rather have a dash that cracks than have something more serious like engine related or transmission problems.

I would like to add [should have put it in my origipnal post],that I have owned Fords and Chevies in the past, but until I got my first Dodge, I was not brand loyal.
My old '75 Dodge did anything and everything I ever attempted no matter how stupid it was. [I was younger and pretty dumb about limits with my truck.] You would'nt believe the things that truck pulled and hauled.
In the 12 years that I had it, it left me stranded 1 time. The battery died!
My father actually wanted to trade his '84 GMC for that truck in 1991, because he got tired of the list of MAJOR problems he kept having with it!He finally parked it in his back yard "to rot!", and after 3 years he gave it to my sister to use as a trade in. It had 71k miles on it!

I never had a Dodge with a flat cam, repeated fuel tank selector switch failures, ball joint, steering gear box/ cracked frame problems, etc. etc..

They all have their problems, but come on.

So I comment from personal experience, not just ignorant oppinion.

Mostly because of brand loyalty. Chevy and Ford have deeper roots in the loyalty department. Dodge also has had a history of not making the best product for a number of years but have really made great strides in the past few. I think the Ram is the best truck on the market right now but getting a Chevy or Ford guy to see that is futile.

I can say that I have never bashed another brand mainly because I don't know anything about anything except what I had been driving. A lot of folks are guilty of speaking about things they don't know much about and a lot of times only repeat things they have heard.

Brand loyalty. . ITS A poison for some.
Im not a fan of dodge, but I like my ram 2500, its verry foolishness to expect brand A is better than brand C.
Its ok to have a preference and the best brand forums are the ones who allow owners to rant..in my case solid front axle issues on HD Rans.

All brands have issues but not all brand owners can admit it

As a new Ram owner I can tell you this; In the market for a newer truck, with more power than my 285HP 03 Chevy, I test drove a bunch of trucks, I am a GM guy so I test drove those the most. If it hadn't been for my wife I wouldn't have even test drove a Dodge, I went to look at a 2011 GMC Sierra crew cab with just under 30K on it...the same lot had a 2012 Ram Big Horn with 18K on it and my wife loved it, so I gave it a chance, My truck search was over.

The 2012 Dodge Ram I bought was BY FAR the best truck I test drove, and the only thing i didn't test was a Toyota because my wife was pretty firm that she did not want that "butt ugly truck" in our driveway... however, I did have a Tundra loaner once and hated it.

The end to the argument is this; For DECADES, Gm and Ford owners tossed stones back and forth as to who had the better truck, Dodge wasn't even in the conversation because it was Dodge and not even on the same level. The fact that GM and Ford owners are downing the newer Dodge trucks more than they do their long time competitors, tells the whole story.

Because they have never drove one. I was Ford all my life, VERY loyal. Then I drove a new 2012 ram in 12 and bought it. Best truck I've ever owned.

I also drove only Ford's until buying my 2013 Longhorn. I have been very impressed and pleased with my new RAM 1500.
