Default Thumping

On the way home from buying my 09 TRX4 Quad I lowered the back windows at 55mph and couldn't believe the thumping noise. I stuck my hand out around the mirror and could change it so I figure there's a lot of turbulence after the air flows over the giant mirror.

I will be going to Moab soon and will give it the 90 mph noise test (with windows closed).

This is the only draw back I've seen so far in this truck. Great power and brakes.

Dodge ordered new weather stripping for mine.
Doubt it going to fix it though.
I think its the morrors too but as I said not sure. Just know they are NOT areodynamic and the wind gets acceletarted through that small area between the mirror and the body.
In the rain you can see the tubulance there.

In another post my seat is deforming, stretching wrinkling. Dodge also ordered a new seat.
Same seat, same material...like something will be different. Preforated material...heated and AC seat.
1124 miles, 26 days old. I weigh 175.

Hats off to my dealer for trying but I do not think there is any fixing a design screw up.

My 2009 Quad Cab is almost silent driving down the road at any speed. I will be checking my gaps to see if they are tight just for information.

All truck mirrors will cause some noise, but your problem is not the mirrors unless there is an assembly problem like gasket or o-ring. We all the same mirrors, but very few of us have noise.

I hope they can fix your problem. There is a very good chance since most of us don't have the noise. As I mentioned earlier, I drove a quad last month that had a big wind noise problem. When it is not in them all, there is hope.

When you lower your rear windows and leave the front windows up while driving down the road, that thumping noise you hear is cabin boom. Crack your front windows down a hare and it should go away. Any tightly sealed vehicle will do this, whether it be a car, truck or van.

Blue2050, give them a chance on the seat. I weigh 300lbs and have 2200 miles on my truck and the seats still look brand new, no wrinkles. Yours may have gotten wet or something before you bought it. As far as the wind noise goes, I have a crew sport and it's as quiet as they come on the highway. If you have a whistle noise at all check your radio antena. My 99 QC whistled so damn bad that I finally took the factory antena off and put on an after market one. The whistling was gone. For the gaps in the windshield trim, if they don't fix it you might try a windshield repair/replacement service. Those guys will have a lot more knowledge about it than the dealer service area. If the service does fix it, you can always try for reimbursement from dodge. Anyway good luck with it. Jeff.

My seats and the others that are having the same probem are the,
"Ventilated Front Seats". Heated and AC fan cooled.
Air blows through a preforated material stiched between the leather trimmed sides.
What that material is I do not know.

Do you have that type seat cover?

blue2050, that's the same as I have. They are actually leather trimmed so the perforated material isnt real leather, but mine seem to be holding up really good anyway. You said others also had this problem, I'm wondering how many now. If just a few that would tell me something happened to the seats before they were sold, if a bunch then maybe it's a problem with the material used. One thing I remember when I bought my truck. I was going to special order so I could get a ram box, but was told that if I did I might have to wait for a long time because dodge was having problems with their leather supplier and they did not know how long until the problem would be resolved. I'm now wondering if this was the problem they were talking about?? Jeff.
