Has anyone tried to load songs on the Hard Drive system? If not do it because the sound level is crazy good. I loaded some songs onto it and the quality sounds better then when I hooked up my Ipod. Also since some of you aren't happy with how the radio sounds It might be because you are listening to the radio FM or Sirius. The quality does go down. I recommend loading songs on the HD and see how it sounds. If you already did that and are still not happy...well sorry haha. Has anyone removed any of the speakers yet?

Ok,
I will gladly add myself to the list of people who do not like this system at all. I have the alpine 7 speaker system and have the bass setting cranked up, and am very disappointed. I am coming from 2 vehicles with stock systems that I feel were much better: 2006 escalade with bose and the 2008 infiniti G37 with bose. keep in mind, i don't like bose at all, but the bass was much more balanced. I have checked FM, Sirius, and an MP3 CD. the MP3 cd sounds the best, but there is a big hollow spot in the sound between the anemic bass that the sub puts out and the mids and highs of the other speakers.
seems like alpine just dropped the ball on this one.
I am going to start with replacing the head unit, and see where things go from there.
I would love to see what everyone else is doing or ideas for upgrading this system.

i have to say i love the alpine speakers. they dont crackle or fiz out when you crank up the volume. but the sub is defintaly leaving me wanting more. I never upgraded the head unit because i knew i was going to change it out for an aftermarket unit down the road. so when i do that i will be upgrading the sub too.

but anybody that thinks the infinity systems are better than the alpine speakers are CrAzY!!

i have had a 98 and an 05 and both of those infiinty systems doesnt compare at all to the clairity and power from these apline speakers. just my .02 cents

Agree with the above. There is just a gap between the bass from the sub and the speakers. It's like the speakers have 0 bass. My Corvette had more bass from the speakers alone than my truck has with a sub.

I wouldn't be in a rush to change the head unit, all it may need is a better cross-over. If not that then maybe just try a new sub. Guess what I'm trying to say is start with the cheapest piece to replace and go up from there.

I agree. The problem can most likely be fixed without replacing the head unit. Worst case you'll need a new sub and amp.

i'm going for a new head unit anyway, the avic-f900bt, so i figured i would see what difference that makes before tearing anything else out. as for the crossovers, i'm pretty sure that is either built into the head unit, or is part of the amplifier. I haven't looked, but i don't think they are putting discrete crossovers in this thing.
another alternative would be an equalizer or DSP, but to go to all the trouble of putting one between the head unit and factory amp, it would probably be better served by just tearing the sub out altogether.
I am seeing a lot of people with sub boxes from the quad cabs of yester year - looks like it might fit.....anyone that can confirm?

Sweet, who's getting one?

Also, can you get that box with a better or more powerful sub?
