MOPWR2U,

Thanks for posting those pictures. I had thought about getting the -12 offset in the XD Hoss but after seeing your setup I think the +18 is the better way to go. I am going to run the 33X12.5X20 Toyo M/T since I already have them from my other truck and they are practically brand new. Thanks again

Well after seeing MOPWR2U's truck with the wheels, I went and ordered the XD Hoss wheels in the balck/machined. I got the 20x9 +18 offset and 5.71 backspace. I was quoted $240 a wheel and then the guy said that he would trade me straight up wheel for wheel for my factory chrome clad wheels. I wanted to keep the factory wheels for winter use but I can always find another set of wheels between now and winter. I at least get to keep the factory Goodyear tires, that way I only have to get wheels and not rubber too. I didn't think a straight trade was too bad.

I got the deal thru a place here in Ohio, the guy that owns the shop who i've known for a few years was stoked. He must have someone who is wanting a set and can make money on them or wants the wheels for himself. I thought there was a catch somewhere and had to confirm that it was just for the wheels. He didn't even want the tires which is good because I would rather keep the tires and just search for wheels. Anyways, I was hoping that this trade was a good deal but I am feeling better about it since it is no money out of my pocket. Now I am just trying to decide between the Ready Lift that his shop sells or a Daystar leveling kit that I would have to order. The Daystar is $159 and the Ready Lift is around $400. Both are the 2.5" front leveling and 1.5" rear lift. Decisions decisions.

Ok, here you go.

Stock Laramie suspension with 35x12.50s:

2" front lift and 3/4" rear lift with same tires:

The title of this thread was "clearing 35's thread". The answer is, 35s fit with no lift at all, just make sure you have the correct wheel offset and backspacing. I personally think the 35s look better with a minimal 2" lift though, which is the exact amount of lift a TRX model Ram 1500 comes from the factory with. A TRX with 35s would be the perfect truck for someone that plans on using their truck off road. Just bolt on a set of 35's, throw a Detroit Locker in the rear and you're good to go.

My 12.50s are the same as 315s when it comes to width, and Toyo tires tend to run generous for their stated size. In other words, the 35" tire is 35.0" tall, and not 34 1/4" like some brands of 35" tires. The sidewalls have huge treadlugs as well, which make the tires wider in the sidewall area than other 12.50 width tires would be. They just barely fit with the stock suspension. The inside sidewall of the tire clears the outer edge of the a-arm by only a few millimeters. It is so close that you can't even begin to fit your finger between the space to see how much room there is. But it doesn't rub. I had the tires off the truck tonight and re-torqued all of the suspension components, and there are no rub marks on the a-arms from the tires. And when the tires are turned to full lock the outer edge of the tire comes very close to the back of the inner fender liner, and only clears there by a few millimeters as well. These wheels have +18 offset, and I believe the stock wheels have +20 offset (as best I can tell with my tape measure with the wheels off the truck and tires taken off the wheels). So with the stock wheels I would think the widest you could go would be a 305. The 315 might rub the a-arm with the inside edge of the tire. Alternatively, if you had a 315 with a less chunky sidewall tread than these tires it might just fit. One good tire that would work with the stock wheels is the Toyo Open Country MT in a 275/65R-20 size, which is 11" wide and 34.5" tall.
