To bring some re-direction in, when "we" say the TRX
Plasticee wheels, what does that mean. This is an honest
Question, not a smart_a$$ comment. I want to understand
What they are made of, and are they meant to be A)
Maintanance free, or just by design, and are they
Reliable on and offroad

Thanks guys
John

THE TRUTH: Since 2003, to increase profit (eliminating added expense of polishing/chroming) Chrysler opts for much cheaper permanently bonded chromed plastic covers over cast wheels. NO easier to maintain than conventional chrome, they give a distorted reflection, scratch easier + the bare outer wheel lip is corrosion prone (adding to Chrysler's warranty claim costs).

My opinion: plastic wheels are not a logical wheel for a TRX truck. The TRX was meant to be an "off road" package, although its pretty lame in that regard. But as an off road truck it should be equipped with components that are capable of enduring off road use. Plastic wheels scratch incredibly easily. One trip off road where you have to drive through a little sage brush, or on a narrow mountain trail with oak brush along the side of the road, and those plastic wheels are going to be absolutely trashed from the brush scratching them up. And don't even think about actually bumping one of the wheels against a rock.

If Dodge wanted to use plastic wheels to reduce manufacturing cost they should have kept them on their street trucks, like the R/T they should have made like Bounty Hunter's, or on the Laramie. But for the off road truck they should use something more durable than plastic.

TRX - Z71 - FX4 - SR5 decals do look semi-tough!

Big Horn/Lone Star packages aren't offered in Canada.

Changing ride height (up on a 4x4, down or up on a RWD) and the shoes are the easiest thing.

While I did not modify the height (Well I did crank the bars up 1" on the front). The flares and shoes made a difference on my old 05.

Who cares about decals. You mention other offroad packages that are also lame, but that doesn't make the TRX package any less lame, because it is in the same category as they are. If you want an example of an offroad package that is not lame, then look at the Jeep Rubicon, the Dodge Powerwagon, and the Ford SVT Raptor. Sorry, but the TRX is pretty lame for an off road package. Its better than nothing, but just barely. Just my .02. And for what it is worth, I would have chosen a TRX over my Laramie if I could have gotten one with leather seats. Even the minimal upgrades are worth the minimal extra expense. I don't have anything against the TRX, I just wish Dodge would have done something a lot more serious with it.

You know what would make your truck look even cooler? If you added TRX4 stickers to it.

Wait... you should add some FX4 and SR5 stickers as well. Hell, maybe even add a VTEC sticker while you're at it.
