I would rather have defective factory paint. I've seen too many body shop abortions.

This is why it would take some major issue for me to take my truck in for a paint issue. I've found one dark spec that is in the clear coat, I'm not concerned as repairing would probably net a worse result than its current state, and only my critical eye's can see it.

I haven't waxed the truck yet, but that's coming soon. Most everything (if I find something) should be correctable with some clay bar or my porter cable. I pretty much expected to have to clay it, unless transported completely covered, they get a lot of junk on the paint from the factory and in transit.

Cheers from Mexico..

I just took my truck for first oil change and noticed also the RRT's, the ones done to my truck were:

08-101 - tailgate spoiler (should it have been replaced or only reinstalled?)
09-024 - creaking sound on seat
09-035 - Don't know what this one is for

can someone help me out on this code?

To Phil Des 09laramie,
I would not buff the truck for a few months at least, to give the clear coat time to cure completely. I have seen a few finishes end up with a fog, or haze from compounding or buffing soon after painting. Color sanding or wet sanding followed by a machine buff is really the best way to eliminate orange peel in the clear coat.
The orange peel and specs of color are only cosmetic and shouldn't affect the corrosion resistance, if that is your primary concern.
I have used a few brands of clay bar polishes and found them to work very well to remove light oxidation and surface textures, just be sure to follow directions and stay out of the sunlight while using them.
I hope this is helpful in making your decision about the paint issues with your truck.

A number of vehicles were shipped that may require the addition of two-sided tape to
the inboard edge of the tailgate spoiler to prevent it from being torn off during cargo
unloading. Dealers are required to inspect for a tailgate liner and if necessary add twosided
tape. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/4th-gen...-just-out.html

Just to let you all we are not alone, my brother in law bought a brand new 50Grand Ford Edge, No employee discounts....scarey payments, first it took like 2 months to get here, and Ford was not shut down? It got lost and anyway was found finally, which means to me it had a big repair that the repair men probably get to go out in the yard and choose their repairs, hell would you pick easy stuff at work or he hard ****.? Anyway so it probably bounced around the yard and got put with some vehicles on hold for some reason. It happens, I have seen it. So he finally gets his first new car....happy as hell. Till he washed it,no paint in the door handle cups, none in the a pillar door jambs. Well he had do choice he had to take it in for the missing and thin paint issues but then he started picking the hell out of it so he wanted the hood painted just for a small speck that well is nothing, and a door with same type speck. I told him man you are gonna be unhappy. So he gets it back a month later than they said it would take, He gets in, it was as if for the month and 2 weeks it was there they had all the doors open, full of body shop dust and thick in the carpet. He freaked, told them he was not taking that car unless they make it look brand new. So they give him a Flex loaded, these cars are all so over priced I can't believe Ford is still going anyway week later gets it back. He didn't even look at the paint yet when he went before, they didn't paint in the jambs or in the door cups, Ford would not cover it, they know it is an issue but will only fix it if it becomes a rust or safety issue. He asked for that in writing...answer...yes you are right NO!!! So no he has a 50 thousand dollar car to pay for he is not happy oh ya I forgot he has the full roof sunroof full all right full of overspray, and it is all over, seems someone tried to remove some on the roof and scratched it, almost looks like someone slipped with a grinder? Well so far it has been back and forth a few times , we don't have the lemon law in Canada I don't think. Anyway this is what you get to contend with when you take it back unless of course you are allowed to pick your own body shop. I only trust one non dealer body shop(and no dealer body shops) and well I don't have enough to take mine to body shop, gonna take the clay bar to the whole truck and wax it, gets rid of most of orange peel, it did two doors already cuz they were the worst and to see if it would work, that was my test spot cuz the owner of the dealer ship saw the spots actually pointed them out to me but I said I would try to get them out, he said he would paint them if I couldn't..........ya right. Not happening. I will just wait a couple years when scratches nicks and dings that naturally occur on a daily driver get to bother me then get the complete done, I can imagine how much that will cost. Wow, maybe I will continue to park way out in the lots at stores even auto parts stores, with my handicap sticker because people think those signs mean shopping carts up against cars. oops I rambled

My 05's paint was perfect, this 09 has a ton of dirt under the base coat. Also a few runs on the front corners of the fenders. It is silver and very hard to see but I know they are there from when waxing. The body panel alignments are also pretty poor compared to the older truck. I'll probably tinker with that a little but the paint, no way in heck I'd let the dealer touch it. They usually just do more harm than good.

factory paint is baked on like you would bake cookies, not like the local body shops call baking it. Once it is baked it is done, they, sand, buff, polish, claybar, all kinds of things. When working in the paint shop on inspection I rarely had one vehicle that did not need some type of clear run sanded out, or some small stuff that your local body shop would consider perfect. There is a lot of time spent of the paint jobs after they are painted so I disagree..first off your truck takes 2 months to get to you after it is painted also so you should not get any fog or dullness..I think that is after a local body shop paint job. Most body shops after the clear is dry enough that nothing will stick to it will put your vehicle out in the sun to get the clear to lay out, that is the next best to oven baked. I used to enjoy my Saturdays spending the whole day usually cleaning waxing polishing, changing oil or whatever, on whatever vehicle I had, was like a total relaxing feeling. I was like those Tony Stewart commercials for Armor All where he stares at how shiney it it, then I would make it last a week or more is it didn't rain with my California Duster. Now I have the nicest truck I ever had well my Durango R/T was nice anyway, poor pickup doesn't get washed enough.

Huh? Are you talking about factory paint? I have ordered several vehicles that only took 3-4 weeks to hit the dealer lot after they were ordered. My 98 Neon R/T only took 10 days from order to delivery. My 09 Ram was ordered on Feb. 2 and shipped on Feb. 20. Did I misread your post?
