Couple of questions;

1. Will I be able to transfer all the files from my IPOD to the Head Unit?

2. Will DVD's play while I am in motion? I have the single disc player now...

Files from Ipod depend on how they are encoded. Easy enough with Applescript to convert them in iTunes though. I've been playing with this in the last week

Likely no, for the Video in motion. It's a dealer-settable option though, so really depends on how can-do your dealer is.

Ipod answer. You can't copy directly from your iPod to your head unit. You need to use a USB drive or USB hard drive to copy the files to the deck. They will need to be MP3 format and I believe that if you bought them from iTunes they will not work because they have copywrite protection.

Default More Ipod answer

2 ways you can get your Itunes music to MP3, Burn songs to a CD then rip with Windows media player or something like that, or download a converter program that converts to MP3 and strips the copyrighting.
Just do a google search or go to iLounge. Hope this helps.
Sean

Now I'm looking on Ebay for a MyGig.

If you have the ac outlet in your truck, there is a screw you must remove before the panel comes out. You have to pop off the trim around the outlet to get to the screw.

Hey you said that the wiring is there and I see that same harness in mine. I am trying to get the part that goes into the dash so that I can have the power outlet. Is this all that is needed is the outlet since the wiring is there? One guy said something about needing a power inverter? I am not sure if the part we ordered in the right one either. We ordered 4793554AC, it was listed as power oulet in the dash diagram. I figured it was that one because it had other part listed like "ciggarette lighter" so I don't think I ordered that one. If so I guess I will have order something else. The actual part was not on the diagram and most part departments are not very familiar with the 2009 parts. If anyone that has the outlet and does not mind pulling the dash off and checking for a part number on that outlet I would greatly appreciate it!!!

another ipod answer:
you CAN transfer music directly to the head unit using the ipod/usb cord. however, it will only transfer music encoded to mp3, not mp4 (default itunes method). another good reason not to use the standard encoding method in itunes.
to change:
open itunes
Edit
Preferences
Advanced
Importing
then change the "Import Using" dropdown to "MP3 encoder"
also suggest using at least 160(kbps) in the next dropdown

160 is a waste of hard drive space in my opinion, the diff between 128 and 160 is not really noticable to your ear JMHO. You guys hooking up all this stuff that you think might be wired. I would really do your homework, a lot of computerization in these new vehicles, one wrong crossed wire or little spark and you may be into some real trouble.

In regards to 72, I'm still not having any issues with the deck. R. Albert I'm not positive about the outlet but inverters can be pretty small. You'll know for sure when the part comes in and the wiring harness either fits or it doesn't. How much did it run you to get it?
