These guys are crooks! Watch your back and the fine print!

YOUR EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AN INTEREST RATE!!!!

I'm so pissed off and it's not even my money!

Take somebody with you that knows the ins and outs of buying a vehicle.

Be very careful on re-doing the paperwork and I would not take a higher rate.

Do not be afraid to get nasty with them if you have to! It may just be the finance guy who is pulling this crap with the extended warranty and rate. If so he reflects bad on the whole dealer!

I agree, what a rip off, dump the warranty. I had the same thing happen to me when I bought my truck two months ago. I specifically asked for a Chrysler/Mopar extended warranty and the dealer did a bait and switch. The finance guy slipped me a third party warranty from some unheard of company. Probably one of those companies that is constantly calling my cell phone telling me my warranty is about to expire. Anyway, when I received my warranty contract in the mail, I was shocked after reading the fine print. All the internal/external components on the engine and transmission were not covered. I went back to the dealer and canceled the contract. I was charged $2,000.00 for a 7yr/100,000.00 extended (junk) warranty. I received a full refund which was sent to my lein holder. By the way, your being charged 5% to 7% interest, what happened to the 0% financing? Other than the warranty snafu, I got a damn good deal on my truck thanks to Chrysler. I saved $12 grand off the $38K sticker with 0 down and 0% financing+employee pricing+rebate+bonus cash.

I too received 13K off sticker and 0% for 48 months.

The deal you got on your truck is a different issue than the extended warranty. Deals can and will vary from dealer to dealer and state to state.

Looks like you received 9k off not counting 5k for the trade. Maybe you could have done a little better, don't know? However, 9k off is not bad for a truck that stickered at $38k. I received more than that but my truck stickered at $48k

I would highly recommend you get the Maxcare Lifetime Warranty with the $100 deductible for around $1600 or slightly more.

Then just enjoy your new truck as they are the best trucks on the road!

My dealer did the same thing, bait and switch. Sold me an unheard of warrantee that was only 6 years but cost nearly as much as the lifetime maxcare Chrysler warrantee. I found this after I got home and began reading the fine print. Went back and cancelled before they had a chance to cash my check.
Go on the Dodge web site and get a number for the Chrysler warrantees. Contact them and see what it will cost from Chrysler. Then you have something to compare.

For most people extended warranties are just a waste of money. The only way your going to use it is if you keep your truck for a long time and rack more than 150,000 miles because that is when you might start having issues. Maintain your truck properly and you will be fine.

Not necessarily good advice...

Many people have problems under factory warranty. Repair costs are astronomical and are very difficult to afford when you are still making your truck payment. Many loans are for 5 - 6 years and even if you have low miles, after three years your own your own.

If you sell your truck, you can cancel the warranty for a pro-rated refund based on time/mileage which usually equates to a generous refund.

I would not purchase an extended warranty on everything I buy but I would not "own" a car without one.

I agree with your reply, but here's one thing to keep in mind if you sell your vehicle and look for a refund on the extended warranty. I bought a new F-150 in 1997 along with a 3 year extended warranty. I sold the truck in 1999, so I expected to get a full refund on the extended warranty since it hadn't taken effect yet (or so I thought). I did get a refund, but it was a lot smaller than I expected. The reason: the extended warranty included rental car coverage, which took effect from the day I purchased the warranty, so they pro-rated it from that date.

The extended warranty I purchased on the new RAM also has this coverage, so I assume the warranty pro-ration has already started.

Yes, that's correct. Most extended warranties run concurrently with the factory warranty for one reason or another. When they say 6/75 or 7/70 they mean a total of six or seven years or total of 60k or 75k miles.

You will have up to 12 months to purchase another extended warranty.

My theory of "waste of money", still stands. When I leave the dealer with a $1000+ service bill that was not covered by the warranty maybe i'll reconsider. Until then i'll save my money.
