aftermarket bug shield installed
Think I have the first aftermarket bug shield I've seen as well. Didn't want painted, as the whole point of me putting it on is to protect the front lip of the hood's paint from impacts. Can't think of why I'd want to put another painted surface there to guard it. Drove around for some time without one to see how much of a beating it would take once bug season hit. Wanted to make sure I really needed one before I got it. Well, I do.
The aftermarket (stampede) seems to give a little more protection, and a bit more lip on the edge to deflect more compared to the mopars. Well, to my eyes anyway. I do like the look of the mopars a bit more, but I didn't like the fact that they left the outside edges of the hood unprotected.
I think it looks much better in person than in the pics; the wide angle makes it look much bigger than it really is.

I like the style of it, the black goes with your truck since your bumper is black. I am thinking about getting one but def want it painted to match the truck. Which I know you don't get, but in my opinion it looks best, and I'd rather a chip out of a $100 dollar deflector rather than a $1000 hood so it makes sense.

Too add, the painted surface on these sheilds are usually painted on the backside of the Lexan or whatever they are made of, so they shouldn't chip paint off. That's my observation.
I still want your boat, Inbred.
