currently on a trip and the change message came up. First 1000 miles were mixed driving, the next 1700 of the driving were 95% highway @ 65-70 mph. Kinda surprised it came up so early, no towing or anything and have been gentle on the acceleration.

My filter was a bugger to get off. I just about gave up and took it to the dealer. On my fourth attempt, after bending the filter wrench, it started to come loose. Why they put them on so tight, I haven't a clue.

I am thinking they put them on dry.

I always stick my finger in oil and rub it around the rubber gasket.

That's exactly right! Failure has to be caused by sludge or failed part that required changing at a specific time/miles.

If your motor explodes and there is no sludge, oil changes or frequency of them should have no bearing.

We only requested maintenance records when the failure was consistent with a lack of maintenance type failure

The carbon was where exactly? In the cylinders, crank case, or every where?

Why did the engine blow?

Please be more specific.
I didnt mean the oil was at fault I just had alot of carbon in the crank even with the regularity of oil changes it got. the engine blew completely it cant even hold any pressure whatsoever even after being rebuilt

It was 2500 laramie with a v10 in it,
