For those who's key fob stops working....
I just put the highest end 5902 Viper alarm system with remote start and SST 1 mile range two way communication blah blah in my truck...
Guess what? Still doesn't fix the issue. I told my system to arm, and the remote said I was armed, but I didn't here my truck beep and the doors didn't lock. I hit it again and it worked.
And again, I did this just a couple of days ago with my regular remote, and when it didn't lock, I still had my doors open and immediately went to hit the inside door lock in the door panel, and THAT would not lock the doors either.
This is obviously a problem inside the vehicle brains and has absolutely, positively nothing to do with the FOBs, battery, or anything else like that.
At least now, if for some reason I walk off with my doors not being locked like I think they should be, my alarm will go off and page my FOB.

Mine was at the point where it would take 20-30 hits to finally get it to lock/unlock. Dealer replaced the battery in the fob and all was fine for about 2 months. Now every now and then it takes 2 hits...but it is still way better than it was. Dealer said that the Iphone will cause interference with the fob and that it is a known problem with Dodge.
If its under warranty, just tell the dealer to get you 2 new ones. At least thats what my dealer did. I ain't jacking with 2 remotes or batteries on a truck thats 1 yr old, and has 13k miles on it. Its a warranty defect in my eyes !!
Hey guys, Im in Toronto Canada and have had this problem with the remotes on and off since day one. Last summer I went to the dealer with this problem and of course the remotes worked so the dealer did nothing about. Last Saturday I decided to go back to the dealer with this remote problem and to my surprise the dealer told me that Chrysler knows of the problem with the remotes for the 09 ram and that they now use a different manufacturer. The dealer programmed two brand new remotes for me under warranty. So far so good.
i have the issues wit both my keys. with the oringal key that i was using first i had to press the blank button that sits about the battery just to unlock my truck... so i started using my spare. and now all of a sudden i can not lock or unlock my truck with my spare key. i have to use the phsyical key just to get in... i think it could be something with my reciever on my truck when i send the signal to un/lock the vehical.
I have a 2010 Ram without remote start or an alarm system and have had irratic operation from my fob since the vehicle was ten months old. Here's what I've found.
The fob is the system component that operates in an uncontrolled environment most of the time, so this was my first suspect. Changing batteries seemed to have no effect, so I decided to completely dissassemble the fob.
There is a molded rubber membrane that contains the buttons. On the underside is contact that appears to be made of steel. The center of that contact is filled with a carbon material that I'm guessing is electrically resistive.
The membrane is positioned over the fob circuit board. The circuit board contains the programable chip that starts the vehicle where the fob is inserted into the dash. The board also contains two other chips that are ued to generate code instruction and radio frequency power for the transmitter.
When I opened mine up dirt and pocket fuzz were readily apparent. Using soap, warm water anda tooth brush I thouroughly cleaned the membrane and the fob case. I next poured a small amount of alcohol on to a paper towel and lightly cleaned the area where the membrane buttons come in contact with the printed circuit board. These are gold lands in the shape of circles with a smaller circle in the middle.
After cleaning and carefull reassembly the fob will be trouble free until it gets dirty again. I usually have to do this every couple of months.

Dusty

Hey all. This is an intermittent problem and is hard to duplicate at the dealer.
I am 99% sure it is not a problem with the fob itself. When my fob is acting up, I will also try lock/unlock buttons inside the driver door and they also do not work. I'm sure a new battery help but it isn't the final solution. I have had the dealer scan the computer, they see that there was an issue, so they flash it. That works for some time but the problem comes back.
I am convinced it is a problem with the trucks computer.
If we all make complaints to dodge they might actually fix it. But I doubt it. Hahaha.
