Default Would You Buy A Ram Next Time?

I wouldn't.

I came from a GMC Sierra SLT, that truck was more solid, more comfortable, all in all a much better truck that did not have recurring check engine lights with no fixes.

Yes the Ram has more storage space and a nice rumbly exhaust note, but the interior comfort and styling is miles behind GM trucks.

You all are going to ask why I got the Ram, it was because my truck was totaled on the way to work one morning. When I went to replace it there were no Chevy or GMC's in a 300 mile radius that were equipped like I wanted it, plus Dodge was taking off big bucks at the time. I guess you get what you pay for....

Mark,
I disagree about which truck is more solid and more comfortable. I also came from a GM truck, in my case a 2007 GMC Sierra SLT 3500 Crew Cab 4x4 with the Duramax engine. Both trucks have their respective brands top of the line interior, and the Laramie interior in the '09 Ram is much more comfortable than the interior was in the GMC. And the Ram is much quieter on the highway, with less wind noise and less road noise. No doubt in my mind that the Laramie beats the SLT in comfort, and how quiet it is, and how solid the cab feels. And the Alpine sound system in the Ram blows away the top of the line sound system in GM trucks.

But I agree with you about not buying another Ram 1500. I don't tow very much, with just a little 18' all aluminum auto transport trailer that weighs 3500 lbs fully loaded. But with even that small amount of weight this truck squats badly, and sways and wallows too much. I love the power, and I love the ride quality of the truck when it is empty, but this trucks rear suspension wasn't meant to do any work.

i would if the price was the same....the price on mine was too good to pass up and i love everything about this truck and suits me well in Hawaii. I dont pull anything, doesnt really do much work, it's a city truck and does well...Now when i move back to the mainland i'll probably end up getting a diesel again

My previous truck was an '02 Ford F150 King Ranch SuperCrew 4x4. Nice truck. For its time (2002) this was a well-appointed truck with many bells and whistles for the day. When I went to buy a new F150, I was not impressed with the gadgets list and the styling seemed not to have changed much. In fact, I liked the body style of the 2002 F150 better than any model since. The price for the Ford was almost identical to the Ram. BTW I paid the same for this truck as my 2002.
When I saw the NAV and MyGig RER was included in the price, I was well on my way to becoming a first-time Dodge owner. I'm not really that brand loyal - like some guys are all Mopar or all Ford...
Then came the test drive... I didn't care what kind of gas mileage, towing capacity loss, etc. I was sold! The Hemi rocks my socks! Plus I kept finding more and features after bringing the truck home. I didn't even know it had a hard drive built into the 'radio' (seems funny to call it that since it is so much more). I couldn't be happier.
Dodge again? We'll see in about 7 or 8 years what there is out there.

Ive only had few problems with mine but none of the errors other then a misfiring 6th cylinder.

But I wont be comeing back to dodge due to there partnership with fiat they allowed the goverment, to tell an american company to sell it assets to a foreighn entity.

I thought of going GMC but then they sold out as well and will be under 60% ownership of the goverment when they come out bankruptcy, other than being communist they will be built with tighter regulations, more power limiting governing features and etc.

and Ford sucks so Im pretty much SOL after my last american truck wears out.

Next time will be decided on when it happens, but if I had to buy another one now, it would still be the Dodge. I test drove Chevy/GMC, Ford, and Dodge before buying. The Dodge had a better ride, more power, and was just more enjoyable to drive. Of the three, the new Chevy was my least favorite and had I not bought the Dodge I would have bought a Ford. I was driving a Chevy truck up until I bought the Dodge and cant think of anything about it that I miss.

On my 3rd Ram without any major issues. PS leak on the 05. Door seals on the 04 and 05. Should answer the question.

Something must be wrong with your truck or you have way to much tongue wt. on the trailer, my 25 foot boat weighs with trailer 6500lbs. and my truck sit level and pulls like a dream, don't even know its back there, check your tongue wt. and I quarantee it will do the same on those so Called Professional grade trucks, I have drove those the ford and the new sierra (dad has one), only my opinion but Dodge got it right this time, and hopefully refine it and pull the bugs for 2010.

I have always been a chevy guy up till I started working at Chrysler and the employee price could not be beat. I did realize how overpriced gm and ford are. They break down as much, in fact my s10 had to get a new motor right away, I had a 75 chevy van and 79 they broke down always,,,work trucks, then when i stopped working i got a 76 used Eldorado...nice car, they got laid off so I was gonna buy a dodge 4x4 could not find one some kinda shortage so I bought a chevy since I had a plow waiting for me in detroit that I paid 4 grand for. Hated that bumpy *** truck, alternator puked first night, had no air, no spare tire....was an option. Got an 88 4x4 stepside next was too weak iin the front end to plow..so i sold plow been in dodges since not full size but dakotas and durangos, This 09 Ram is my first big one and its too big cuz I am paraplegic and cant get up there to get in. I have had to be creative.

no doubt my truck has been rock solid. with only a few minor issues that really arn't dodges fault.
faulty clear coat on my wheels, new set of four on the way under warranty... one CEL due to bad gas.. that's in over a year with 15k miles.
