Would You Buy A Ram Next Time?
I read each and every post up to this one and I laughed quite a bit at many of the posts. My comments are in response to a good mix of the comments I read. I have heard it all and seen it all I suppose. I just got back into a Ram after being away from trucks for about 7 years now. I have been a 3 year member over at SRTFORUMS where you will find the most loyal, active and vocal bunch of guys in the entire forum world...literally. I am going to miss alot about them and my little SRT "NEON" that was putting down more HP and TQ than my new HEMI...but this truck was picked for a purpose. To work and play.....the SRT-4 played hard...very hard (and would blow the doors off the CTS-V and DEFINITELY the 335XI for what it was....LOL....both very good platforms
) My experience in the tuner world and show world tought me alot about various cars.....everyone will like them for different reasons. I have favorites just like the next guy. Some of those I like I would still NEVER BUY though.
I find it absolutely hilarious to hear those talking trash about Dodge because they merged with Fiat and have held some Governement Interest. Who really cares who oversees the company....its still gonna be mainly the same company that will change with directional focus, the same factories and the same workers building them. Now they can look forward to a better world dynamic structure and perhaps some even better design teams for future editions. We will have to see. I never met the previous executives in office for the last 4 Dodge Vehices I purchased and don't really care who is there now. Yes, they down-sized and closed some dealerships...but they didn't build the dealerships because "YOU" live there. They closed them because the regions were poor producers and sales didn't match the support needed. We had 3 dealers close to me...and now I have 2. But given the chance I would drive 200 miles again to buy my next Dodge because THAT dealer took care of me once before and does good business in a town 100x smaller than where I live. I bet I would pass maybe 50 dealers to get there too. I dont support the local dealer..I support the choice I made, the Dodge Ram. All I care about is that this New Truck is MINE, I like it and it will do anything I need it to do while it looks good doing it. I will do the service on it myself...to guarantee the work and the pride of doing it. I myself would NEVER take it to a Ford Dealer to get it serviced. Shame on that guy for not doing it himself...
(Hint: 1 wrench, 1 filter strap, 7 qts 5w-20, 1 bucket and about 10 minutes of time)
And for the OP - I am not really brand loyal either...but my recollection of the GMC of yesteryear were...overpriced chevy's that didn't impress me much then..nor now. As far as some people not wanting to buy a Dodge again...good, LOL, I don't want everyone having the same truck as me anyway!

Thats just a bunch of Limbaugh worshipers spewing thier hatred, there morons!!
Yes sir...and more. The highest horsepower SRT-4 is dubbed the "Red Sled" and runs an easy 8 second quarter mile with only 750+ HP
I had a big fat AGP GT-3076R Turbo on mine and was pushing about 450HP+ and a bit more in Torque at 26PSI. The Meth Injection Kit I had also let me hit over 500 at 30PSI if I wanted but never ran it that hard. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to do a final Dyno run before I got rid of it. The SRT-4's are monsters...its just too bad they only made them FWD.

Those sales didn't account for that much cash.... The main reason they didn't need any bailout money was because they mortgaged the entire company and took out a HUGE line of credit before the credit bubble burst. Had the credit bubble not been this bad but sales were still lagging, GM & Chrysler could have done the same, but no credit & poor sales = bankruptcy & gov't assistance.
The credit line has saved Ford so far, who is burning through cash just about as fast as the other two, but in the end it may hurt them. GM & Chrysler have gotten rid of a lot of debt/obligations and have fairly favorable terms now on their debt. If sales don't pick up soon enough and Ford has to start making payments on that loan, they may quickly fall behind to the new leaner GM & Chrysler.

I agree in some respects but not in others. Ford was smart to re-arrange their finances and put into place a very nice credit facility. That takes forward thinking and planning, obviously this was lacking at GM and Chrysler or they were unable to pull it off. Also Ford was able to rearrange ownership easier because the ford family is still a big owner of the company. Ford is not out of the woods, but they are stealing market share from GM and Chrysler. I like the dodge ram trucks and the challenger, but dodge/chrysler better get their collective chit together and selling fiat 500's is not a solution. I own 2 dodge products (1500 QC ram, and dodge minivan). No major problems with either vehicle, both have over 70k miles on them. What we may be seeing is that having a good product is not always the magic cure for a business leadership problem.
Only had mine for a few days, but I'd go get another if I were looking for a full size truck. The interior upgrades/quality from past models sold me on the Ram. I'll be honest, I never was a Mopar guy and never considered their past offerings.
I buy what is the best product on the market (import or domestic) and the new Ram is by far the best full size truck on the market now.
