Thanks for the link Doc. I see here that...
RCA Line Level and Speaker inputs with "Smart-Engage"
"Smart-Engage" Circuitry (patent pending) eliminates the need to remove your factory head-unit during most installations

What does that mean? I wanted to keep my factory hu but there is no way Im going to tear it apart. I have done many installs in the past with aftermarket hu and have had no problems. With this smart engage thing how would I install it. I would love to not have to pay an install fee.
Thanks Doc

Wes

EDIT: I found my answer. Thanks.

On the last post. Well, Does anyone know the easiest way to splice into the left and right audio wires. I am assuming I would need to pull the rear door panels and go that route. Any other options? I also dont have the premium sound. Only the six speaker. Wes

My Dealer jipped me on the alpine system. When we orig talked, he said he could get it in my sport and I wanted it that way. The day came to pick up the truck, and wouldnt you know it, no system. It had to selected as part of two groups which would have up'd the price $1200-$2000, so after telling him I didnt want the truck, he said he would upgrade the speakers and the dealership would pay for it. So now i have to go back to have better speakers put in, But ill upgrade the soundsystem as time goes.

Im thinking maybe by the end of june I'll start changing and adding components.

Hey doc, if you have time, can you take pics of the speaker locations in your truck? Just curious about where everything is mounted or placed.

originally the truck had

1. center channel
2. dash speakers on both side by the a pillars
3. front door 6x9s
4. back door 6x9s
5. rear roof speakers for the surround sound
6. 1 8" subwoofer

but now i merged the full range signal of the front dash speakers and front door speakers for my hertz components.

and i swapped out the single 8" for dual 10" RE subs

everything other than those 2 mods works just as original still... my center channel works and i hear my surrounds on a dvd
