From what I gather anyone with a truck built before 09 does not have the fuel saver light but I a reading some are getting a flash and after the flash the light option is in the EVIC after and you can make the light work when you are in fuel saver mode. Some are saying it only works on single exhaust trucks? I am going tomorrow for the HVAC recall, a couple RRT's including the MDS one. I have to have my uconnect flashed maybe the radio also, the new REN radio works including he satellite, whoever I bought it from has till March like I have on mine now so that works out, Ihope they dont have to flash the radio but I am told when they do flash it and put it in your options list it becomes warrantied. Anyone who is in that official capacity working in a dealership know if there is truth to this? Worth 52 bucks for the flash then.

 

i just got all my rapid reponses done and got them to flash my pcm with the update, i have a slt4X4 crew single exhaust, no mds light after flash checked all my evic options and setup no option to turn it on. must only work if you have a 2wheel drive slt regular cab.

 

So did the flash activate your Fuel saver thing?

 

I havent get around to go to the dealer to see if I need this updates, but in my Ram the Fuel saver is working just fine. I can be cruising at 30 or 50 and the EVIC will display "Fuel Saver". its not actually a light but the the whole words right above the cruise control icon.

 

nope but they original dealer that flashed it, screwed up everything that did that day and it has been all reflashed by another dealer...long story its in another thread somewhere, anyway I did not look yet. I am just happy they got my self installed uconnect working.

 

I finally went to the dealers to see if I needed any updates. I was told that I didnt need this MDS Flash. They did tell me that was a update for the ABS and made an appointment for this Friday. Didnt get the number for it but they told me that needed to be flash, if the flash doesnt work, they will have to replace it. Dont know if this make any sense but I will find out on Friday.

 

go get the mds flash at the dealer and see, it did not do anything for me but who knows if the dealer even did it right took 2 dealers total 14 hours plus several Chrysler Engineers hours on the phone to get my U Connect to work.

 

Not sure how CJDT was able to get his on an early build Ram. I had the flash done that was mentioned and no such luck. Mine is a single exhaust SLT hemi. I've talked to two different dealers on what it will take to get the fuel save light. One did not know and the other said it is not just a software issue and that additional sensors and wiring harnesses would be required. That is hard for me to believe because there is aftermarket gauges that connect through the OBDII port that will show when mds is working. I asked what is the part difference between the early builds and later builds for the EVIC, etc. there is no different part. To me its still a software issue that Dodge will not address for us earlier build owners. Its a shame, Dodge advertised it as standard for all but the basic Ram model.

Maybe CJDT can add some more insight on the issue.

 

I am going at 8:00 am this morning, 09 SLT dual exhaust 5.7 EZD code engine, OCT. build and NO LIGHT, so I will see if it has one when I get it back this afternoon.

Remember this thread? I think there are more than one part numbered gauge clusters out there and we will need the newer version for the fuel saver light.
