Where is everyone looking for an ""Fuel Saver Light Option in EVIC Menus" ??
The OP didn't mention this at all, but rather raved about finally getting the "Fuel Saver Light" display in the Status Area under the EVIC Menu Display (in the right-most square above the Cruise Control Display I assume - CJDT didn't actually confirm this, but it's the standard for all later build 09 Rams). I think that several of you are looking for more than CJDT reported in the OP.
But, we have at least 3 reports of improved MDS Operation in this thread, and that is what I'll be hoping for at next Service Visit.

Default got the update still no light

Well I went and got the update flash friday and drove it all weekend. Never got the light, checked my menu and did not have an option for it. BUT my truck does seem to be running better, I had noticed the rough idle and now it seems to be fixed. So the update does not give the light but is still worth getting. Not to mention there are a few "ppt"s that the company told me about. They told me ppts are recalls. They seem to all have been sensors and one was for the sad plastic piece on the tailgate.
My truck is single exhaust, 5.7 liter, 4x4, manufactured 11/08.

I have my MDS 'fuel saver' light, so no problems there, I would however enjoy the improvements to MDS engagement as I've never been able to get it to come on above 55-60 on a flat highway road (even at 60 I have to be drafting a semi truck or something).

I had a local dealer do my first oil change and perform whatever RRT's came up etc. I specifically mentioned the update and the service manager wrote 'program update' on the ticket. The update was not done, I suspect because one of the RRT's was an ABS update and maybe the tech thought thats what I was asking about.

The service manager wasn't really listening to me, she seemed to infer whatever she thought instead of what I was telling her (I even commented on what she wrote on the ticket, she didn't add anything so I was hoping the tech would know more about it). I think they didn't have the wi tech units and just flashed with the old starscan tool. I was also not that thrilled with the service, tech didn't reset my oil reminder (not a huge deal, but come on!), tech didn't notice my coolant reservoir cap issue (it pops open constantly, and the manager also forgot to put this on the ticket), dealership did not have master wheel lock set and couldn't do my rotation (I left my key at home, I know I know, what if I get a flat, its in the truck now, but still). I will say this, they were nice (other than the not listening part), but I kind of expect that from every human being so it doesn't exactly get them bonus points. The Parts guy was on the ball, too bad I didn't need more from him (touch up paint).

I think I'm going to call around and find a dealership that has the wi tech unit, I've heard bad things from people (that I know) on just about every other dealership in the central florida region. (if anyone knows a good tech in a 50mi radius of orlando please PM me)

Took my truck in to my dealer for some rapid responses, and requested the flash update for mds, and told them it didn't work above 50 mph, and had a rough transition from 4 to 8 and gave them the number, 18-019-09. They did the flash, and now my fuel saver light is on except when going up an incline, or accelerating. MDS mode is on when coming to a stop all the way down to about 2 or 3 mph, and transitions can no longer be felt. Have a SLT RC 4x4 with 17 in. wheels, and 3.92 gears, so appears to be working as it should. The service desk guy hadn't heard of it, so apparently the tech who did the work was in the know about it. Definitely an improvement for my Ram.

DodgeRam87:
Did you have the fuel saver light before the flash being done? It seem that for many who did not have the fuel saver light before still don't have it after the flash. Only one or two have said it added the light. I'm taking mine in Sept 04, for the flash and a recall on the HVAC.

Yes, I always had the indicator, late 03/2009 build date. It just didn't come on like it should.

I had to hunt for information at the dealership, I even gave the guy the flash number but he said "is your check engine light on?" which it was not, so he replied "this flash doesn't apply to your vehicle then". It wasn't until I said later that I noticed the truck idling funny in gear that he then found a flash to address that, funny it was the same one I gave him! Useless techs.

Some techs are hard headed.I had a bump stop in mine.Felt like you got rear ended at a red light.I too knew about the updated flash.Darn tech was under mine banging around on the exhaust(aftermarket) and said 'can't duplicate' and tried sending me down the road.I said WHOA! How about downloading the Latest and greatest flash. He started to give me a hard time.I sad WHOA again just DO the darn flash and stop wasting MY Time.He finally shut up and did it.Flash fixed it.The flash update is for general improvements of drive ability and trans performance.Tech spent MORE time avoiding the issue and fumbling around instead of just doing the darn down load. Then he commented about what it PAID to do such.He WOULD have made a penny if he'd used his brain instead of his mouth.

I dunno, if I were a tech and you said your truck had a problem with the bump stops, I'd be under the truck looking at your suspension too. Further after confirming nothing was loose, I too would want to road test it. You may have wanted the flash done as well, but by your description I wouldn't associate it in anyway in correcting your issue.
