As many of you guys know I work at a dealership and ck my truck on Wi tech for flashes well I cked today and there was a falsh for the PCM that was for improvments to the MDS and a few other issues so i did my flash update on my truck and lordy lordy my cluster now has a FUEL SAVER LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Have the tech at your delaership run the truck on w tech and tell them there Wi tech must be at release 9.5 or higher to do that flash

See guiys I told ya if you write and ask enough they will fix things like this all your emails worked guys !!

Now go get them pre dec 08 trucks flashed !!

CJDTAUTOTECH: Thanks a bunch. It is good to see a mechanic for Dodge willing to help out. I am one who has had nothing but good experiences with dealership service.

For us novices so we can speak more intelligently to our service advisor could you explain what we should ask for. That is do we ask that we want the MDS update done so the Y tech must be 9.5 or higher?

Could you explain what "run the truck on w tech" is and what "Y tech" is.

So what is the fuel saver light? If we get this done, are they going to charge us to do it?

 

Tell them to ck your truck for flash updates , There is a service # for a flash for the PCM for improvemnts to the MDS system and idle quality and catalyst monitors , Ill try to get you the bullion # as soon as tech connect comes back up its offline right now

Wi tech is the new pc we use now its a wireless system that we install a pod on the truck and use a laptop pc to connect to the trucks systems it gives fast info and ck codes , modules and flashs as soon as it connects to the trcuk very fast way better then the star scan tool we used to use

 

It s a free update under warrenty as long as you have under 3year 36k miles

The light shows on the dash to tell you the trcuk is running on 4cylinders and you are saving gas it lights up next to the truck milage in the cluster , it also is a update on how harsh the feel from 4-8 cyl and 8 to 4 cyl

I take it your ram was an earlier build (mine is 10/08).My early correspondance with Dodge basically said I would need to purchase a new gauge cluster. Your saying its just a software issue. I will take it in next week and have it done. Glad to see Dodge address this issue. The Dodge website had the fuel saver light as coming with the hemi even back in January when I first started looking.
