Strange Noise Taking Off or Stopping
this was covered here and the other forum about a year ago . the old and new tundra's also do this .. i forget what it was deemed to be but ... it was deemed to be somethin in the driveshaft/yoke ... fairly common .. and not bad for the truck.
PS .. i have a march '09 build spport .. same thing .. comes and goes .. feels like a thump like somethin is rolling in the back of the truck and comes to a stop when taking off or stopping ... sometimes with my truck, it lets go after the truck has stopped completely. .. someone do a search back to like a year ago .. it was discussed both here and the other forum .. more here if i remember tho ..

found this .... seems like really really lubing up the drive shaft helps ..
Turns out the driveshaft slip yoke is more than likel dry...

i quote from that link ...
'I had the same problem. I used Valvoline synthetic lithium grease with moly fortified. Greased the rear sleeve about forty pumps. You will see sleeve swell, finally full.Factory and dealers do a lousy job greasing. Solved my problem. Good luck.'
I think i'll look into this tomorrow ..

Happened to me yesterday after unhooking a 1000lb trailer that I towed for about 60 miles.
It felt like an ABS thump after releasing the brake and accelerating from a dead stop. My 98 Dakota used to do it occasionally.

The Latest:
My noise issue has not yet been resolved even though I bring up this issue every time I bring my truck in. I always get the response on my close-out ticket "No problem found, Cannot recreate issue". I told the service writer that the tech heard and recreated the noise when we went for a ride. But they look like a deer in headlights when I tell them that and want it repaired. All I get is, "We'll check it out".
On another forum I visit, a member there had the same issue on his Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler replaced his rear end gear assembly, but it still continued to make that noise. Right now it is sitting at the dealership until it is repaired. I'd do that, but I don't have the luxury of having another vehicle to use for work while mine gathers a layer of dirt sitting in the back 40 of the lot.
Has anyone here that's had this issue had it resolved?

I have a 2010 1500 SLT with 1100 miles. It did it twice last night as I was backing out of my driveway. At first I thought I had backed over a bicycle. But then it sounded as if the U-joints were not aligned.
I took the truck in for an oil change last week and now all of a sudden that noise is now "normal driveline play and spring wrap up when cold". Yeah, that sounds good, but it makes the noise when the truck is warm too.
Maybe because my mediation meeting with Chrysler is in a couple of weeks, and they want to take care of these continual issues to make me look bad. If that was the case, why didn't they take care of these issues from the beginning?
I've said it before - this is the first and last Chrysler product I'll ever buy.
