5th gear is the second over drive.
GEAR RATIOS

The 545RFE gear ratios are: 1st-3.00:1
2nd-1.67:1
2nd Prime-1.50:1
3rd-1.00:1
4th-0.75:1
5th-0.67:1
Reverse-3.00:1

Does tow/haul use both second gears?

With the variations in Torque Converter Lockup that the Engine Controller uses, it can often feel like we've got more gears under us.

yeah I have noticed that when goig 60 mph down the road I will be at about 1605 rpms but I think it will eventually lock the torque converter up and that will drop my rpms down to 1450 while going 60, but it wont always do that....and that is with 355 gears

When you are in manual mode and you shift into 5th, you're really shifting into 4th. The reason for this is that putting it in manual mode enables 2nd prime, which is counted as 3rd gear in manual mode. Our transmissions are actually capable of 6 forward gears. If in manual mode, you need to take it out of manual mode to access the highest gear.

So no, there is no gear after 5th like it seems.

I agree with you guys, but all the same, it feels like it shifts through 5 gears and after 5th, the rpms drop another 300 rpms making it seem like another gear. However, it won't do this while in tow mode. I drove this all day yesterday and while in tow mode with nothing behind me, fuel saver doesn't kick in and it shifts to 5th gear. What ever it is, whether it be the converter locking up or what, the rpms do not drop until you get out of tow mode at which time you will see change. While in 5th, after turning tow mode off, the rpms will then drop like it is shifting to a higher gear. Now, I say 5th gear because it's says 5th gear whether shifting automatic or manually, make sense?

FL09 Rampsrt,

Have you had a chance to get any data yet on performance times. Any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times yet? I have a Oct 20 date with my brothers Tundra at the local 1/4 and want to make sure I don't get embarrased.
He has a crewmax with the 5.7 borla catback, TRD intake and upgrades rims and tires (22's)

I have a Hemi Crew Cab with 3:92's and no upgrades yet. I know I am giving up some performance but he has never been on a track before and I am hoping my experience and reaction time atleast keeps it close. Anyone who has run similiar trucks please reply.

FLO9, I would love to hear some data on approximate gains on 0-60 or 1/4 if you can.

Sorry but nothing yet. I am waiting to get the tuner in hand to go to the track. Diablo is supposed to call me to set up a time next week to finish the tune on 87 octane and work on the high octane one.

I guess they are selling the tuner but have not completed the software release.
