ESP Discussion.
Yes, all 3 are on in my truck. I need to get it in to the dealer and actually get it repaired before winter. I could care less about the ABS, but the traction control (Or a locker) is a must for a RWD truck in MN.
Ok, sorry I don't agree with your "discussion" or lack there of. You just want to hear your side of it. I explained how the ESP worked in this thread before you did and pointed out that fully disabling it would in no way help acceleration only hinder it. In fact there have been many people agree with what I'm saying. You've got everyone confused because we don't know what you're trying to accomplish, do you want to drag race, drift, what???
Looks like you're the one upset because Chrysler put a Government Mandated safety device on your precious truck and you don't like it. Have you already removed the Air Bags??
I'd like to go ahead and calls dibs on your rear axle with the 3.92s for when you wrap you truck around a tree just to prove you can rig up a way to bypass the ESP. I just pray you don't kill anyone in the process. And please don't drive like this with you kid(s) in the truck.

On a side note:
When I was 17 (way before the government mandated seat belt laws) I hit three trees going 90 mph. The general consensus among the responders was had I been wearing a seat belt I would have died. And, before anyone starts the queen safety talk, I get it. I was 17 (1983).
The point being if the government wants to mandate that they put the system on there I suppose that I can live with that, but, ****, I paid almost 30 grand for this truck. That 30 was 60 before I paid taxes, and I paid the sales tax and the bs fees at the dmv. It's mine. If I want to responsibly turn ESP off then I damn well ought to be able to.
Has anyone tried this procedure yet:

I think I'll give it a try. I reallize it's a Jeep, but it's the same manufacturer....
If there is a way to do it on the Jeeps, maybe there is hope for us.

I have feeling that Jeeps have it since they go off-road and Jeep advertises them to do such. Most Ram owners are not going to go off-road and I think Dodge left us without a way to disable it.
well this is all really intresting....i completely understand how the whole system works and ive heard enough of ran jr.......i just have to say i laid rubber on partially wet road slightly sideways with esp off running 60 mph in 2nd gear and it was loads of fun!!! exactly what i want to do if the road conditions prove safe at the time!!!! I could really care less what someone thinks about it i just wish u could manually hold a lower gear!! and make sweet burnouts in 1st gear!! if it wouldnt hit 2nd gear the burnouts would be much better.....and I'm almost 40 this is my first NEW ride and I'm enjoying it!! just broke 2000 miles!!! just my 2 cents!!
I agree with most of what is going on here, both sides. My first car came out with the ESP, and I think it is a neat feature. Would like to be able to shut it off when I want, like my truck. When I was pulling a trailer in the pasture on some wet grass, it ticked me off the have to use 4Hi to drive through because I couldn't stand the chatter of the TCS.
On a side note, it is a nice safety feature to have, but if the other people in an accident don't have it, it won't matter if you do or not. You may not hit the car in front of you or hit the ditch on an icey road, but you may get nailed harder from the rear. It's like an airbag, it only goes off once in an accident. If there are multiple hits, does it really matter. Just my opinion.

It has a response to an inquiry that includes a way to determine whether or not a noesp module will work.
