Still undecided
Well I have decided on a 2010 Ram. I'm going with the Laramie crew with the Rambox. Going to order the truck. Trade in on my Silverado is 15k. Pretty much what the dealers are offering. Private party value is 20k so I'll try to sell it and see if I can squeeze a couple grand. The truck is completely paid off so anything I get will come straight off the Ram.
I bought a new 2010 Laramie about a month ago now and I absolutly love it. It is by far the most kick *** truck you can buy. I spent a good 4 weekends test driving and comparing trucks for my self without regaurd to advertizing or write ups, the Doge kept winning at everything. Mine has all the options except the Ram Box and the Video Screen but I am very happy I got all the other options, I really enjoy them.
You will love the new HEMI with the 3.92 gears, drive like a luxury car and has all the power you could want. It turn heads everywhere and one thing is for sure, EVERYONE at my work is trying to figure out how they can selll their truck and get one of these.
Here is a picture(s) of mine, it is the second one down on the link page, Tan.

I have a 2009 Laramie Ram 1500 CC with the Hemi and love it. Pulling up to 6000 lbs is not a problem. I have read a few post from owners that have put on rear air bags to reduce sag and improve towing. I could see that being helpful. The coil suspension is great for ride quality but does sag and bounce just a little with my 600 lb. tongue weight.
My real question for you is why do you want the expense of a new truck? When you already have a 4 year new 3/4 ton diesel with a Allison transmission that will pull almost anything. Plus the new emissions on the diesel trucks have really been a problem for the casual diesel user. I'm interested to see how the 2010 models handle the emission problems the 2007-2009's have had.
So keep the Silverado for towing and get a Ram Hemi for everything else.

That was the exact color I wanted. I'm getting the same truck except with the Rambox and the rear seat DVD. Have to keep kids entertained on 3 hour trips.
You can play DVD movies from your NAV screen but the truck has to be in park to do so, there is a work around kit for this.
Remember you have many 12V plugs and even a 110 plug so using a laptop for movies is also an option, you can plug a 1/8 aux cable from the headphone out to the aux input on the head unit so the sound comes out the speakers.
The Laramie come with a very good sound system, 500 watt Alpine with 9 speakers and a Sub, very nice and by far the best system availible in any truck to my ears. The 30 gig of space to upload music into the truck is really cool. There are so many little things the Laramie has that make it really a joy for you and your passangers, everyone is enjoying the rear heated seats now since its been about 0 here.
Another thing that Austin Tan color is great, looks different in person than on Dodges web site but although it was not my first choice I am so glad now I did get it.

I noticed Dodge has on their site a trailer brake available for the 1500. Is that the same one as on the 2500?
This will only be the 2nd Chrysler I have owned. Mostly owned GM's. I still own a 2005 Chrysler 300c with a Hemi and it has been pretty good to me.

I missed this post on my first read through. When I bought the Silverado about 5 years ago, literally weeks after, my wife found out she was pregnant with our first child. Then the second came along. This truck is only an extended cab and I'd really like to have a crew as the kids get older. Plus my brother in law has introduced me to snowmobiling and 4 adults in an extended cab on a 5 hour drive to the upper pennisula is not comfortable. Also, I have never used the full capabilities of the truck. The most I've towed in 5 years is a 5000lb boat. In terms of payload the most I've hauled is maybe a couple hundred pounds of soil, kitchen cabinets etc. Nothing major. The Silverado is also at 97k miles and when it rolls 100k my powertrain warranty expires. Plus I just recently paid it off and I have the most equity in it that I will ever have. That's pretty much how I work. When I get a car I try to get as much equity in it and then be able to trade it while I can sell high.
Congrats on buying a new Ram. The crew cab is very roomy. And the kids will like the electronics, mine do. The tan color looks nice. But then I seem to like all the colors. Mine is Inferno Red. I'll keep an eye out for a new Tan Rambox CC 1500 as I drive around SE Michigan. Enjoy.
If you are on the far east side you may see me buzzing around. Do you have any recommendations for dealers to try out?
