Hey do you have a picture of that spacer, and the name & model #. With a 1.5 mpg increase every one should get one. All the other bolt on mods I have read up on here either show no increase or a decrease in mpg. Sounds like you found a winner. Post a picture so we can see what it looks like on your truck.

While I do not want to compare apples to oranges here, I will say that I can personally attest to long-term performance advantages to upgrading your air system over stock. My wife and both race motorcycles in a minor league. Actually we're just a bunch of dorks with just enough money to organise some small-time competitions at our local venue. But nevertheless, I have swapped my "factory" air filter with a K&N on my wife's ZX6R, my GSXRs, and my Hayabusa. My buddy works at a performance shop and let me run a dyno quite often. I have been running K&Ns over stock for years and the numbers have always been a consistent improvement over stock. The numbers have never lied to me. Now to be fair, I am referring to a "drop in" filter versus the full system. That is all I swap out on a track machine, no point in spending thousands extra on boosted power I probably will never come close to needing. The bikes always accelerate harder after a K&N drop in. As far as the ECU reprogramming, I am not attempting to compare apples to oranges, just state my motorcycle engine recalibrates just like our Hemis do. It will in fact recalibrate, but only to properly make use of the additional air available. Will this always result in MPG increase? HP increase? Depends entirely on your individual vehicle. My bikes reach their power-band must faster as a resultant of torque. I really notice the power when exit the Apex of a corner and I am hard on the throttle. The bike breathes a lot more and reflects a significant increase in torque. Even 3 ft-lbs of torque increase is enough to get you there quicker. So while my Ram is not easily compared to my bikes, I believe it is fair to say that the breath-ability of the engines recieving the air upgrade is a fair comparison over stock. Feel free to disagree with me if you like though. I still rule!

but in all honesty... i can tell that much a difference between the Mopar CAI and the XDI i had on before it.

Had i bought this to replace my stock filter i would be happy. but if i bought it thinking it would be better than my XDI.. i would be pissed i blew $400+
Can you call letting some company pound on your truck on a dyno god knows how many times gettings something for free. I wonder why they just don't rent a truck to do this. You get 2 Cai's out of the deal one you says sucks and the other is a Mopar product and it is the bomb. Well I hope you can sell that XDI after your sales pitch LOL. I could not let my truck out of my site to some other than the dealer for a day let alone to beat on it. Sorry.

With how good of work my local dealers do I would rather give my truck to AEM for a day than Dodge. Haha Anyways though that Mopar setup looks really good, just not sure as I'm sold on the rubber piece, looks like it is not exactly condusive to flow, with the ribs in it....

I will post pics of the airaid spacer soon, I have to go get sylvania bulbs today because of all the problems I am hearing about putting in an HID system. I bought one, but don't want to hassle with the problems the rams are having. If anyone wants an HID system let me know. I do not have pictures of the mpg increase but will swear to you that my mpg read 16 while driving in the city and never dipped below that. It is about 25*F now and i'm only getting 14.3

Does the Mopar cold air intake have any droning, if so is it annoying from inside the cab?

Default Specs

Are there any specs out there on the Mopar CAI? I can't find anything such as HP and Torque gains.

i dont know much... but i know this....

when i took my stock filter and dropped in my XDI my throttle picked up big time. i would "speculate" that my mpg went up maybe 1 mgg... but i only average 11 and then almost 12..

but...

since i took out my XDI and stuck in the mopar cai.. there is no difference..

conclusion... if you have a stock air box... .upgrade to a mopar or other cai.... but if you already have a cai and think that the mopar or some other brand will get you any gains you will actually notice... think again

lol.. my sales pitch for the intake will be "its better that what your running stock"

but either intake is pretty good... i just kept the mopar one in case down the road something happens and the truck needs warranty work.

and as for letting them beat on my truck... they dont do anything i dont do while driving it.. i was more interested in the dyno numbers they promised but didnt deliver on than the free intake.

when driving back to indiana from LA there were stretched in AZ, NM that i put the truck at 90+ mph and hit the cruise control for hours on end... so i dont think a few 5-10 second romps to the rev limitor did any damage
