Default MOPAR CAI on order

Well, I did it. I went to the dealership and ordered the MOPAR CAI. Had to order because evidently they have not been shipped out to the delaerships yet. So for those of you that already have one, I hate you! lol... but upon paying the $500 it cost, I started to wonder if I should have saved a little money and bought the Volant CAI or Airaid CAI instead. Any thoughts?

Volant! The one I want and it looks the best. The Mopar one looks pretty cheap (and ugly). I don't get the half metal half rubber hose thing.

yeah, I was in the same dilemma. I ended up going with the Mopar version. I only paid $410, but that included labor for them to install. I know it is only a few bolts, but they wouldn't really budge much on the price, so for the extra $10, it isn't even worth me pulling out the tools.

I would go with the mopar because if I had any other brand the dealer would blame it on any engine problem.
I personally don't care how something looks under the hood

My experience with Volant on the F150's was not so good. We used to go to dyno days sponsored by a tuner in VA and the torq curve would take a nose dive after 4k rpm, it was the most restrictive aftermarket intake. Guys were dumping it on the spot for an Airraid or an Airforce One, doing another pull and peak torq remained well into the 5k range. Maybe it is different on the Ram but I won't buy one after seeing the real life performance on the Ford ( 04-08 style with 5.4L )

Airaid MXP using the stock intake tube - I had to uninstall mine and just use a k&n drop in for now. It made a strange noise at part throttle ( sounded like a rattle ( kids said sounded like jingle bells ). Maybe it's just my truck and a few others, since I have seen a post on this. Nothing loose, only did it in gear, not park. Perhaps getting the one with the replacement intake tube would eliminate that since it is smooth.

The Mopar one looks great, huge tube, filter and lots of diversion to the cool air inlet on the fender wall. Good choice !!
