4x4 shutter
Mine does it to...
I only really notice it when 4x4 on and I honk on it. If I drive "civil" its ok.
Thought about taking it into dodge but being a Tech myself I know they're going to say either can't duplicate or we hear ya but what do you want us to do about it LOL
All I can say is Im watching it like a hawk and every time I lift this thing for service I checking stuff out with a finetooth comb. If I come to any real resolution with it I let you guys know.
Im thinking its a gear ratio thing between the T/C and the Differentials because it is so light but we'll see
BTW Mines a 3.92 ratio whats everyone elses?

I haven't got an answer from dealership yet, but we have isolated exactly when it happens pretty much everytime. Light throttle right after it goes into overdrive then it will shutter when you are under light throttle increasing speed from there. My truck is set up for 20" wheels but we've put 17" winter tires on, I wonder if this might be causing the problem as the electronics may not recognize some of the proper shift points. Can any experts out there comment on that.
Thanks
Thanks
Just FYI
I got together with Sking the other weekend and he took me for a test drive, all I can say is wow... That is not normal at all. We can debate whether 4x4 should be driven on dry pavement and so on, but either way, even on dry pavement my 4x4 will not vibrate or wobble. Only in a tight full turn, will it chirp and that is normal due to the traction and grip on the road. In a straight line, there should be no vibration or wobble at any speed within reason... Mine is a 4x4 quad cab, and my buddy has a 4x4 crew cab and his is good too.

I have a crew cab, 4x4, 3.92's 20" wheels, didn't do it when the truck was stock and hasn't done it yet with the 4" lift which increased the driveshaft angle up front so I doubt it could be an angle issue.
I have the same issue. Starts to shutter under med. throttle shifting between 1st and 2nd. I had the dealer check it out and they say there's nothing wrong. Go figure. I'm taking it back tomorrow and I will take the service manager with me for a drive. This is not normal at all. I've owned numerous 4WD vehicles over the years in all makes and I've never had this problem. Especially brand new. I'll let you guys know what happens.
Have any of you guys put your truck on a hoist and spun the front wheels while it is hanging (or had the dealership do this)? If you have a CV shaft that is binding up somehow, it will shake your motor back and forth when it hits the 'catch,' since the front diff is attached to the motor. I've seen this happen to trucks with spacer kits - not stock trucks, but it is worth a shot.
Update:
Well, just as I figured. "We couldn't duplicate the problem!!!" Unfortunately the service manager wasn't there or I would have taken him for a ride and showed him what his mechanics can't seem to pick up on. The thing is, it's so noticeable it's not even funny. How can they not notice the shutter?
I think I'll take it to another dealer and let them give it a go.

Same Problem here.
Ram 1500 4x4 Quad Cab Big Horn 2009.
I noticed this issue the first day I got my truck, for me I get the shuttering every time I use 4x4. It happens mainly at lower speeds < 40 mph and the harder I accelerate the worse it shutters. Ive learned to drive around the issue, I know longer accelerate to hard in 4x4 mode. On the highway at 60-70 mph the truck is smooth in 4x4, but if I have to accelerate hard to pass someone it will shutter a little bit. I was going to bring my truck back but I figured this is an overall design flaw that can not be fixed so I'd just be wasting my time. Well I'm about to trade her in anyway being I leased it and now im looking to purchase a 2010 3500 Mega Cab 4x4. Does anyone know if this issue was fixed or improved on the new 2010 HD's.
