Trailer brake
I think that is not so true any more....
I had the integrated brake controller in my '06 F350. I think it worked great - and better than any aftermarket. I say that because being "integrated" meant that it had an actual sensor on the truck brakes so that, for however hard I pressed the brake pedal, it activated the trailer brakes equally hard. To me, that is better than having a bunch of gyros or accelerometers "guessing" how hard I'm pressing the brake pedal and activating the trailer brakes accordingly.
Similar for factory stereos. Nowadays, stock stereos are really good! A stock Laramie with the RER unit that gives navigation, satellite radio, AM/FM, iPod integration, DVD player, built-in 30 gig HD, 500+ watts, 10 speakers, including a subwoofer, steering wheel controls, and Bluetooth handsfree phone connection..... well, that's hard to beat. I had a big, touchscreen Alpine head unit in my last truck that could do all that. With amps, speakers, subwoofer, etc.. It sounded better than the stock stereo in my Ram - but not enough better to make it nearly worth what it would cost to do the same treatment in my Ram. I spent more on the stereo in my last truck than what it costs to get the RER setup in a current RAM.

We installed the Tekonsha P3 in the hole where the Integrated Brake controller should be. http://www.mrspowell.com/_wp_generat...2814631_0f.jpg But, the harness we have is the wrong one. So, my hubby is off tot he Dealer. Hopefully he comes home with a functioning trailer brake controller.
Thank-you for the knowledge base on this forum and the correct part number!!!!

What do you have to do to take that cubby out and put it back in?
My Prodigy came in this weekend and I would kind of like to mount it in that same spot - if taking the cubby out and putting it back in isn't too hard.

First you have to take the panel off around the steering column. There are bolts to the right and left. Once that panel is off, you will see the screws to remove the cubby. The cubby space was cut to fit the controller, put back into place and then we screwed the permanent bracket in place to hold the controller. If you look closely, there is a space on the bottom that is open to allow access to the bottom of the controller and the pulse switch.
My hubby just got home with the correct pigtail that connects to the truck. All ready to go! The next challenge is removing the cover from the camper that has over a foot of snow on it.
We leave January 18th!
Good luck with your installation.

Glad it worked out for you. Too bad you had to make a few trips to the dealer to get the correct harness though.
My bezel came today. The local Mopar depot did not have it in stock so it had to ship from Detroit. Took from Wed to Fri so they are available and in stock.
The black bezel part is #1EB13XDVAA, list $9.45 . DV is the interior color code for black. They are also available in grey and beige, just change the DV and add the proper color code. Forgot to write them down though.

Can you guys even see the controller when it's in that pocket? The pocket is not visible to me in my normal seating position, and I sure wouldn't want to have to get a hold of the manual brake lever in an emergency there.
