Default Leveling kit confusion

I decided that my next mod would be to level my truck's stance. I don't want to lift the rear at all because of my need to load and unload the bed for work. I have searched and the choices are confusing. There are kits that raise the front of the truck it 1.5 inches and some that raise it 2.5 inches. Which is the correct amount of lift for a 4X4 to be level? Also I find kits that are between $50 and $60 and several that are $200 or more..... What is the best???? I have also heard horror stories and binding and shaking in 4WD because of a front lift, is there any truth to that?

Before you level you may want to head over to dodge talk and read the 3-4 threads on leveling issues so you get the right one.

And the "right" amount of lift to level is best determined by parking your truck on flat ground and measuring from the ground to the top of the wheel wells. If the rear well is 2" higher than the front, then you need a 2" lift for the front to level it out....

2 different 2009's I put a 2 inch leveling kit on. Both trucks had the steering wheel oscillation after the spacer kit, and yes it was aligned. Ended up taking the spacer kits back off after about 10 miles - not worth doing it. 2006-2008 Trucks they seemed to work fine, there is something the 09's dont like about the spacer kits (2 inches and up).

If I were in your shoes, I would not buy those 2.5 inch all top spacer kits. If you use your truck at all offroad (where your front wheel would be at full droop) you'll overextend your upper ball joint and possibly split the aluminum knuckle. The 1.5 inch lift would probably be fine... afterall a TRX is 3/4" higher than a regular truck so another 3/4" above that should be fine. If you want to make your truck 3/4" taller you can just buy TRX struts for the front. The TRX strut is the same overall length as any of the other ones, it just has more preload on the coil to give it a little more lift.

I know people are going to want to argue about this and think these spacer kits are the greatest thing ever. Maybe they would be, if they came with a new arm that corrects the upper ball joint bind issue (See the $1300+ Kore kit)

I would have to agree i use mine basically fast desert style whoops and with my redylift there was issues with my upper arm i saw these in a magazine and called them up bsm its basically identical to the kore arm its around 700 dollars a little pricey but with the bilstein 5100s its awesome i can hit high speed whoops with no problem and the best thing it looks just about stock so no warranty issues and it rides even better on the road

I knew it would be a mater of time before someone else with first had knowledge of a leveling kit would chime in. After all my problems people thought I was nuts.

If I read one person had problems with a leveling kit that would be enough for me to say no thanks. Now really how much better you think for all that work, does it really look..not much. Not worth the possible malfunction. If driving like a human being on regular roads well maybe you are safe?

There in not enough information in my opinion to pinpoint these problems to a leveling kit. People without leveling kits are having issues as well.

I am going to reconsider the leveling kit. It seems that there is just enough question as to negative effects for me to slot that one further down on my wish list. Thanks for all of the replys.
