LSD/Gear Change quote
On the 3rd gens you don't have to have the speedo adjusted for just a ring and pinion swap, so I assume it's the same on the 4th gens. Now if you change the tire size then you need the dealer or a tuner to correct the speedo.
How does that work? I'm gonna need some convincing.

I wonder if they are running off one of the ABS sensors. I did notice that when I unplugged the ABS relay during my ABS issues that the speedo and odo did stop working.
yeah the speedometer is read off the wheel speed indicators, only thing I was wondering about as far as computer goes for a gear swap is, if going from open to LSD, how will it affect the way the ESP and how soon it engages to stop wheel spin, will the 2 systems be fighting each other, and also the transmission shift points.....
A detroit locker is in no way selectable. It's an automatic dog clutch locker. The only mass produced selectable lockers around are the ARB, OX, Yukon Zip Locker and the Eaton E-locker.
A true track is only an LSD in the sense that it slips ( a whole lot). Rather than clutches it uses a hokey helical gear setup. Never met anyone who owned them who liked them - been at least 3 guys in my club who have thrown them away. If you want an LSD, then an auburn is a much better choice.

No idea who makes it or what kind it is. I've got 3.21's and the traction control works well enough for me in a 2wd street truck. Only time I really wish I had a locker is dead starts on ice - when the esp stops the tires entirely - then I just switch it off and roast them.

The mopar LSD's did have an issue w/ the c clips breaking and sometimes grenading the rear, but I believe the c clips are bigger and stronger now. If you're gonna put an lsd in then just get an aftermarket one like the auburn or DTT.
It's a Dana 44 rear end with stacked metal to metal clutches on the spider gears for LSD. Not highly rated by the experts.
clip mentioned above is adjacent to the index finger in the photo

If the pictures here are accurate, the factory lsd appears to be a trac loc.
