Default Worst Truck Ever

Where to begin...I purchased a brand new 09 Dodge Ram 1500 out of the show room last year. It was the TRX package and appeared to be Dodge's best truck yet, so I thought.

I'll begin by listing every problem I've had so far: For starters the fender flares and roof rubber came unglued, the driver's seat came loose from the floor while I was driving it, the brake peddle began to swing sideways while I was towing a 4,000lb boat downhill, the passenger seat came loose from the floor, the stichting came out of the backseat when never used, there is vibration in the gas peddle, the check engine lights goes on and off as well as the ETC light, and the cab of the truck started creaking terribly while turning.

Now, to elaborate on the brake. Once the peddle started swinging sideways I took it into the dealership and they replaced the bushings and peddle assembly, this took one week. I finally got a call and was told CHRYSLER DEEMED IT UNDRIVABLE until the entire brake assembly was replaced. This took another 3 1/2 weeks!!

As for the cab creaking, the body to chassis bolts were not torqued to spec from the factory. All bolts were 3/4 turn loose from spec.

After talking with the dealer, the conclusion was that they could care less that this was an unsafe vehicle to operate for day to day transportation. I wrote chrysler a letter listing all of the issues and their response: "We are sorry you are having problems with your truck, try another dealer" I also stated this truck was unsafe and problems were non stop.

My advise, buy a Chevy or Ford. It's obvious Dodge still can make a decent truck with quality, and worst of all, they don't care if their customers that keep them in business are satisfied. This is my second Dodge. I had on 07 and ended up having transmission problems with it.

I'm truely sorry you're experiencing such numerous problems with your Dodge Ram. I am 100% satisfied with my Ram 1500 though, I've surfed on this forum since I bought my Ram(June 09)and have seen maybe 2(Including this one)customers with such extreme problems with their Ram 1500. There're always rare occasions where someone gets a nightmare of a truck, you fall into this category, I'm sorry man. What I do on occasion is I visit Ford and GM truck forums and see the competition is doing, all 3 domestic car manufactures have issues with their trucks. So you go ahead and think if you had a Ford or GM($$$$) you would be better off, I up until I bought my Ram, has always bought Ford, I would buy a Ram again if they keep making a truck comparable to Ford and GM.......................................Kevin.

I also feel a vibration in the gas pedal. Did they figure that out? It seems to happen right when I hit 35 mph

I have had mine for almost a year, and am completely satisfied with it. I am sorry that you are having problems, but if you think going to a Ford or Chevy will fix that problem then best of luck. When I had my Chevy, I was told by huge Chevy fans that they are horrible, and I never had a problem with that truck either. I do think there are a few bad trucks in every make and model and some people get those trucks. I guess I don't know what you expect chrysler to do. Like Kevinc66 said, you just fell into that category of getting a bad truck. Good luck with what ever you decide, and hopefully if you go chevy or ford, you don't get one of there bad trucks.

First of al I want to say that I owned a 2009 Dodge Ram Quad cab St and had absolutely no problems, I recentley bought a 2010 Crew cab with the Hemi, I have not owned this lon enough to really speak about it. Now on to what I wanted to say. The first brand new vehicle I ever owned was a 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport. I cannot even begin to tell you the problems I had with this vehicle but in the first 4 or 5 months of ownership I was at the garage every weekend getting something fixed. I finally got fed up with it and I called the attorney general and they informed me of the lemon law( I was still young and did not know all the laws). I had gone back and forth with the service manager and had gotten no where. I finally had, had enough and I walked into the service department one Saturday morning and made a scene. I called the service manager out and told him how much I hated the vehicle and that is was now his problem he could have it, I then put the keys on the table and walked out of the service department. I didn't even make it out of the parking lot and the Manager came running out of the dealership and offered to bring the Jeep in and go over the entire vehicle from front to rear. They gave me a new Grand Cherokee to drive while they where fixing it. They also paid my next months payment and gave me a 5 year 75K bumper to bumper warranty. I was to the point with this Jeep that I didn't care if they repossed the jeep. I have since owned many Jeeps and my Wife currently drives a Jeep Commander Limited with the Hemi and we have no issues with that. I guess the moral of this story is you are always going to find one bad apple in the bunch. The bottom line is you have to stand up for yourself because nobody else care's about you but you. If you do not them you will continue to get bad service and the truck will always be a problem. Make the dealership that so willingly took your 30-40 k make it right and make a scene if they do not. My bet is they will make it right.

P.S Sorry if my spelling sucks, I cannot download the spellcheck and I do not feel like proof reading it.

No, I let the guy at the dealership drive it down the interstate and he said "I don't feel nothin"..his exact words. Funny how I wear boots and can feel it, yet he can't feel it in his penny loafers. But no, they have not addressed this situation at all. Every time I've taken it in for something I mention it, and they always come back with the same response "they don't feel it".

Maybe try another dealership man, the guy might just be an idiot, can't blame a guy for being clueless.I sincerely wish you the best of luck with this problem, you spend a good deal of $$$ on a vehicle, it does'nt work right and the people that should be correcting the problem are plain idiots...................................Kevin.

I've had my 09 quad cab for 6 months now and it is the best vehicle I've ever owned. I traded a 08 GMC Sierra for this and couldn't be happier. Don't get me wrong I liked the GMC but IMO I thought the build quality was lacking. It wasn't nightmarish like yours but a ton of nuesence problems that shouldn't be there on a brand new truck.

My advise to you is either stand up for yourself and MAKE them fix your truck or look into the lemon law. Good luck
