Default Rust on antenna?

Anyone have this? I have 670 miles on the truck and already have rust on mine. Will be going to the dealer to fix this.

I am going to see if they will get me a Black powder coated one. I know I can clean it, but with 670 miles I should have nothing.

Got a new one from the dealer yesterday. We looked at all the trucks on their lot and 80% were all showing signs of rust.

I bought a black colored one, same style as stock, from pepboys auto parts for $8.00 since I hated the chrome one. Looks better than the chrome - imo - and still looks new after 1 year.

I'm down in Miami, Florida, so I figured it was due to the amount of moister in the air. Nonetheless, I hated the look of that “LLOOOONNNGGGG” metal antenna, hitting low hanging trees, under passes, and your occasional pelican or flying pigeon. So I went to PepBoys and for about $15, I bought a Black Rubber antenna which is less then half the length of the OEM. It was a simple screw on installation, and signal strength is on PAR if not better……and it looks great.

Checked my antenna after reading about others and mine is showing rust too. Any problem getting the dealer to replace it? Does anyone else have the black antenna mount turning grayish white?

How about just using a little polish like Speedy Metal Polish? That should shine it right up unless the rust is really deep and has been there for a long time. Then hit it with a coat of regular wax.

A stainless steel antenna shouldn't rust unless it is a cheap grade of stainless. Cleaning and waxing won't stop the rusting. Maybe Dodge should do a RRT on this problem.
