Sport vs R/T
Is there really much difference between the Sport and the R/T besides the grille badge? Someone was telling me also that the R/T has a different torque converter.
Anybody else know any difference? I've been looking on the web for the last hour and haven't found much of anything

The R/T is (as of now) limited to only regular cab 2wd. Although I am sure you can order a regular cab 2wd Sport so that in itself is not a big difference. The key being that the R/T comes on in the lightest Ram 1500 configuration. The big differences of the R/T have already been mentioned. It comes with a 4.10 rear end and a "loose" torque converter and of course the all important grill badge. (There's a pretty good interview with one of the R/T's developers on You Tube.) The trade off is the R/T can not be optioned out as well as the Sport i.e. leather seats and such. Still, I think the R/T is the best all around factory sport truck ever offered in that it is still completely useable as a "truck." (I'm sure that comment may draw some arguments.)
I use to tow my ski boat and haul the motorcycles in the bed of my Lightning, what esle can the R/T do that the others can't?
I'd take the Supercharged F150 Harley version over a lightning or R/T -since you get a crew cab in that configuration.

A manufacture's intent is often changed when they see the dollar signs. The 3rd Gen's SRT-10 was intended to be the King Sport Truck, which is why they initially came only as a single cab. But then everyone started asking for one in the Quad, so Dodge built one. Also, look at Ford's Raptor. The 2010 is a extended cab, but they've sold so many and found out they could sell so many more, that next year they'll have a Super Crew Raptor. That's wasn't the Raptor's initial intent, but sales talk.
If more than a handful of people even knew about the R/T they'd sell more of them and probably hear about a demand for at least a Quad cab R/T. It baffles me to this day why Dodge hides the R/T like a red headed step child.
Anyway, back to the R/T's hardware. I'm not so sure about the R/T's "loose" torque converter. A few months ago I went looking for one to install in my Sport. I talked with two parts guys locally and the folks at mopardiscountparts.com to try and find a part number for the R/T's torque converter. All they could find is a single torque converter listed for the RAMs. While I don't completely trust the local guy's ability to find odd stuff like that, the mopardiscountparts guys have found everything else I've ever asked them about. So, I'm not so sure the R/T's converter is a hardware difference, but just a different set of management programming in the truck's computer.

Its in print and advertised somewhere being a higher stall speed.I have seen/read more then once. Can't remember where.Standard like 2300 RPM and the R/T either 2500 0r 2800 RPM.The R/t is advertised to have some differences in trans operation and set up over the other models.
IN order to bring the R/T into the same category as trucks like the Lightning/HD/Raptor, they would actually have to add some performance to it. A badge and a torque convertor arn't really going to cut it as a differentiator.
